Author has written 3 stories for Avatar.

If I had one thing I could communicate to anyone needing advice out there, it would be this:

Don't waste four years of your education learning a dead language.

But if you did, you might be able to understand what I would actually tell others seeking advice: Dum spiro, spero.

(In all seriousness, in case there are any Latin teachers out there, Latin is a very useful tool if you want to get into any field involving science or law, and you can analyze the hell out of the Aeneid and its ever-present iambic pentameter.)

In case you couldn't tell by my stories and favorites list, I got into fanfiction for the sole reason that I was (am, let's be honest) obsessed with the movie Avatar. As a nice bonus I have checked out some fiction about Firefly, but the fact that most of it seems to be post-movie and therefore post-Wash leaves something to be desired.

For the record, Blue Hunny is not a reference to the Na'vi. James Cameron stole that idea from me while I was explaining to ol' Tiberius why blue skin is far more erotic than green skin. (Wow. That may be the geekiest joke I've ever made.)

Anyways, I have a knack for waxing skxawngic. (No wait, that's the geekiest joke I've ever made.)

Can anyone tell me why Avatar is SO DAMN ADDICTING?? It honestly defies what I thought of as movie logic. The plot is as hackneyed and predictable as it can get. It has the worst dialogue ever. EVER! "I was gonna have to take it to a whole new level.", "I hope this treehugger crap isn't on the final.", "You're not in Kansas anymore.", "This...this is our land!", "Neytiri, you must go now!", "You have a strong heart." "No one can teach you to see!" Are you kidding me? And they should have just made Jake an Australian mercenary for all the accent control he had. The only thing I should have taken home from this movie is that Zoe Saldana, even when rendered a different species by a computer, is extremely attractive. But no, I'm apparently an Avatard. Life is bullshit. (Seriously though, drop me a line if you have the answer to this conundrum, its blowing my mind.)

On a more personal note, I find it extremely frustrating that so many people on this site seem to think that River and Jayne (or Rayne, as they are apparently known) are a cute couple. I mean, one has an obsession with firearms that drives him to treat them with more respect than women, the other is bat-shit crazy, psychic, and has the mind of a twelve-year-old. I dunno, I guess that works for some people. Personally, I could sooner see Mal dry humping Wash's rotting corpse. Not that I don't believe in the ability of fanfiction to say whatever the hell it wants, there are just certain things I can't wrap my head around.

I want to give a shout out to Nina Simone's version of Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit". That shit is chilling, and I can't stop listening to it.

Did Clash of the Titans really not realize that not only did they blatantly latch on to Avatar's success with the whole 3D thing, but they also have Shaved Sam Worthington jump from one flying creature to another just like Avatar?

I want to apologize to the, I dunno, five people who are interested in me continuing either of the multi-chapter stories I started. I know I implied I would get on them, but two jobs and grad school applications, and a simple lack of writing speed (read: talent) have put such things on the very back burner. Besides, its really just therapy for my own delusional ideals, and I just haven't been that depressed lately. However, the writing bug still crawls up my butt from time to time and there may eventually be movement on those fronts.
