 Author has written 2 stories for Sherlock. I'm an aspiring writer, but awfully shy about my work. I greatly value the use of symbolism, figurative language, foils, poetic devices etc. (all the stuff ignored in high school English class) in a story. Reading (and writing) inquisitively in addition to reading (and writing) emotionally can really further a good story and create a whole new dimension to it's meaning. Despite the fact that all of my English class disagreed and said writing essays on figurative language and theme just "make it stupider", I think, when handled well, these aspects should be incorporated, mostly for people like me who never take anything at face value. Hopefully I'll post some of my real stories here (not the Sherlock ones, though I do like them), someday. :) |
