![]() Author has written 21 stories for StarTrek: Voyager, StarTrek: The Next Generation, and StarTrek: The Original Series. Thankyou for reading! Welcome to my corner of voyager J/C fanfiction PLEASE review, it makes a huge difference, even for the older stories. I like to have the feedback and know that someone likes them! PM encouragement and also constructive criticism. I do, slowly, take it on board! [and yes, this profile is really long, I'm not particularly crazy, I am just quite a talker!] Jan 18: I have now been a member for a whole year! In that time I have written more than I ever thought possible, the best part of 300,000 words in 19 stories, read countless more of which I favourited a small selection of 160 and left more than 300 reviews. Thankyou to all those that have read, reviewed , favourited and followed my fanfic, it does make a big difference. Jan 19: the last year turned out differently from expected! Although I finished my story of the time, ill health and job uncertainty as well as family crises put a commitment to writing on the back burner! Please encourage me to get my mojo back. the stories are in my head, they just need to be channeled out! I was driven to fanfiction partly to move on from the miserable ending Endgame of Voyager as encouraged by my teen daughter who recommended an otherwise unknown world of fanfic. [she's gonna find me - waves] Also, because my life for the last few years has been hard pressed at work, evening studying and personally stressful, and I really needed a creative release from the variety of pressures to keep me sane and functional - more or less. [i work full time, had a scary car crash, have started a post graduate teaching course on top, and have been coming to terms with my dads terminal cancer prognosis whilst writing, and most recently, his death and the grieving that follows - thankyou to all who have sent private messages of support] I missed endgame the first time around due to firstborn - said teen daughter [wailing baby at someone elses house so banished to garden!, so caught it for the first time on netflix and immediately hated C7 - still do! I think it demeans both characters in different ways, and Chakotay the most. It just didn't make either chemistry or compatibility sense, and had uncomfortable power/age undertones that to me really confirm the point of the fraternisation policy - OK technically she was a civillian and didn't always take much notice of the chain of command but starfleet is always so aspirational, I watch it because we are striving to be better people, and so Chakotay REALLY disappointed me! SO the negatives: the speed of the romance; the whole privileged position thing [Me Too]; age and culture difference. Shudder. I, however, liked the character of Seven, and much of her non-romance development arc, even if I wished that she hadn't remained cat-suited and with no personal space living in a cargo bay for the duration of the show. I also find the story behind why they wrote C/7 a bit icky too... [rant over!] Anyway, in my fanfic, they made me need to make her safe! It probably is crazy to start writing fanfic over 20 years from when voyager first aired. however, not only do I not 'buy' C/7 but also, what was with the doom and gloom lighting and then dead end? The second big flaw to me of Endgame. It was OK as an interim shock taking stock, but then what?? Where is the celebration? Come on powers that be!! So my fanfiction started with needing to turn this sombre finish into the deserved glory! After all, seven years of persistence! so there you go, massive party in my first fanfic. Also some what happened next closure for the crew, we all have questions on what would happen, so since I'm writing, I might as well carry on... ['what Katy did' and 'what Katy did next' springs to mind] Also, I do a lot of driving, and although i can't drive and write, I can drive and think! I am unashamedly definitely a Captain Janeway fan first and foremost. From my professional perspective, I completely get why she would have difficulty with romance for her first officer, agree that if this had been written in the first year or two it would have made her character less credible. i think pulling back from resolutions was a clear emphasis on how determined she was to be a good leader and put her role first. I do think that perhaps her storyline could have changed, and with time - particularly as they got the 5 year mark - they could have revisited the generational ship thing, and with her leadership so definitely consolidated, and her requirement for socialisation underlined by her depression, and particularly when we got to fairhaven [urgh!] we could then have developed a reasonable grounds for a relationship. At the very least, I would have left the way for her happy ever after with endgame! I also have a fondness for Tom, B'Elanna, doctor, Naomi and Icheb as characters and you find that they crop up in my stories a lot! oh, ok and Chakotay after all, once I'd got my head round a satisfactory explanation for C/7. The show was fairly woeful at portraying Chakotay's strengths, character and his inner self or development imho as well. He really could have had lots more interesting moments. the character premise is very interesting - an honourable man caught by his conflicting heritages and having to compromise ethics/morals and the standard trope of right from wrong. Looking to secure the future for his crew with an enemy, settling back into starfleet. He had so much experience that we should have seen more chakotay as leader - more like his role in equinox. In my stories, I'm trying to stay pretty within canon [show definitely, bu some themes from books]. If I realise that I am mirroring a meme from another fanfic writer, I will reference - sincerest form of flattery and all. If it is a directly copied idea I will ask for permission. there is probably very little uniquely new to Voyager fanfic. My writing is not massively angsty. It might be very definitely J/C centric - how I wish that early promise got its official Endgame moment, but I have always loved the interplay between all the main characters that wraps all the episodes, and i hope to pick up on that in my storylines. I guess another thing that I love - out of many - about the startrek universe is the desire for us to be better, to become more than we started, open minds to possibilities. I think the voyager arc definitely shew character progression for tom, b'Elanna, Janeway, Tuvok, Icheb, seven and the doctor and i guess even q!. A bit for Harry - could def be more, and a bit for Neelix, but chakotay not so much. I guess I wanted to build on that positive change, and give them that recognition on their return that they had developed beyond the constraints of their genetic/environmental programming too. I wanted to celebrate that 'normal' or 'ordinary' people can be extraordinary with the right impetus. Some people are wide canvas writers, panorama pictures, fabulous story arcs - I wish i was too as I love them! I am the scribble in the margins kind of person, the filling in the detail along the way to see what the characters are thinking and why they are making those plans. I kinda like to hop the viewpoint. However, all my stories so far are taking place within the same timeline/post endgame world. They inter-relate and shouldn't have any inconsistencies. Because of that, thought I would write a bit of a guide! [and I am a bit wordy, sorry/not sorry]. Below is the kind of chronological thread to read order! Always would suggest starting with the coming home with you fanfic, after all, in my opinion there is nothing more satisfying that a post endgame resolution to J/C and I have enjoyed reading loads of them. However, although there is a story arc, each individual story of mine is complete in itself and you can read in isolation, the later ones have a brief summary of how I have got there. My fanfic Phase 1: last 24 hours on Voyager - 3 interlocking stories, a silly spin off and then 2 further stories So far, my first and main fanfic - 'coming home with you' [T] - is my endgame homecoming take, starting just after the cameras cut. 23 chapters, and ultimately J/C [originally i was tempted by a J/O, but what the heck] . T rated - swearing [mild] and suggestive. I would read this one first, as it is the main thread of the story that all the subsequent and the twisting around threads meld with. I really enjoyed writing this, and to be honest, I wish this is what had happened party wise, regardless of the J/? outcome. I hope that you enjoy it too. it takes 23 chapters to cover the first 12 hours post return with a bit of will they, won't they and ends with a rollicking good party. Plenty of laughs, and also some tears. To go with this, I have a backstory of Janeway and Paris - 'just good friends' [M] [J/P; J/Justin; P/T] 7 chapters from the past to voyager party present through the eyes of Tom and B'Elanna, though Kathryn does some narration. definitely M rated for swearing and sex and some hints at darkness [i'm not a very dark writer!] as this backstory is alluded to at the voyager party, and then definitely referenced in the 'crossing the rubicon' follow on story. Not a novel idea, and after I had written it, realised that I had reclamation by Mia Cooper 's/12167506/1/Reclamation' as a muse, but it is clearly altered, adjusted and adapted to fit where I want the quartet to be in the end. I can't write as darkly or sexily as she can either! Whilst writing the angst ridden ready room chapter in 'coming home with you' I realised that I was very angry with Chakotay as a character, the weakness of the C/7 thing and needed to understand why he was such a P'Tak - as actually I generally liked the character [Shame the PTB didn't give him such a good story arc of development as it would have been great, and probably this is half the 'chakotay' problem]. How could he betray his angry warrior, and so suddenly with seven! Any mature adult should see that she would be 'vulnerable' in emotions, somewhere between child and adult, and if the dating could be seen as helping her to find romantic feet, that abysmal emotional blackmail outburst in astrometrics was ultimately demeaning. So 'between two heavenly bodies' [M] is his inner voice set alongside the 'coming home with you' fanfic, with his coming to terms with loving grandly and entirely, and his understanding that settling for seven and family in the delta quadrant when all hope seems lost and he needs to grasp at what he can, is not the same as doing it in the alpha quadrant when the alternative is the measure of his dreams. Alludes to his PTSD [cos clearly they would have it, and to me that is the only explanation that makes sense and allows me not to blow him out of an airlock]. His understanding of decisions he made is then more fully worked out in 'crossing the rubicon' follow on adventure, but the groundwork laid here. I like psychology... Def read after 'coming home with you', adds more to the plot and is complementary. completed with some serious J/C smut at the end , mostly T but, by the end as Chakotay and Kathryn get to enjoy his final good sense, def mature adult then, M. As a light hearted and silly spinoff of music videos made for fun by the crew there is - 'lets get this party started'[K] - I needed to have an emotional breather after the readyroom chapter in 'coming home with you'! please comment your own suggestions. doesn't spoil any of the main story line, and set just before the voyager party begins. I loved imagining them miming with their hairbrushes. T rated as mild innuendo. To be honest, I would love to have found a reason for Kashyk to do a music vid with Janeway, but... Please comment in review your favourite musical selections and why! I then did a light-hearted postscript to 'coming home with you' as 'the last red alert' [T]. Tom can't resist a final prank but gets payback. Kathryn and Chakotay have lots of humour sprinkled through the canon episodes, so I thought that once the grand passion had been assuaged they would be ready to face the future with laughter! J/C fluff with romance, played for laughs, humour and Paris payback. T rated. Now, somewhat later, I am adding in 'the morning after' [T, which is as it sounds, waking up to an alpha quadrant future. The command team need to face some music, perhaps. Just because Chakotay has made his [correct] choice, it doesn't mean that the issues that have be-devilled them both have gone. 7 might have something to say, the crew might too. Mostly planned to be a mixture of romance, humour and love, with some thematic exploration that continues in the alpha quadrant of how to live now the journey is over. Mostly love, family and laughs. They are all still on a bit of a giddy delight high that they have got home. This might be my favourite story as I didn't need to have any plot, just joy! Phase 2: Adjusting to life in the alpha quadrant Whilst getting myself ready for a new adventure story arc, I have done some playing with scenes really at the time of the debriefing. 'Indianna Idyll' [T] - the going home and meeting family, and is kind of scene setting. life post voyager was never going to be entirely easy. Lets Icheb have a bit of vision as he comes home too. Still J/C, implied P/T, icheb. Since i think i prefer writing them a bit more humorous, 'dance classes' [K] - a fluffy brief window into the command couple in starfleet accommodation in another light hearted moment. So still J/C fluff, with a side of Icheb. Prob takes place in first debrief week post return. Stand alone, no plot! shore leave [M] - J/C happiness and definitely smut, well it is shore leave, takes place within first month following the return home. Def mature adult, though tasteful. Their first holiday away together. Stand alone, no plot! Playing with holofire [K - T] - a light hearted series of exploration in their favourite holoprogrammes. J/C predominantly and a piece of fluff. Some are more crew based, and include Paris/Torres and Naomi moments. Initially set in that first month post return to the alpha quadrant and prior to their first mission. Some are later and have additions to the main story, so could be considered as standalone scene outtakes. Some of them are ways to explore an alternate universe without actually writing an AU story! All the chapters are 'one shot' and just grouped together in one place as include some holodeck interaction. So this doesn't particularly get finished, as it is always finished if you see what I mean! Needing action [T/M] is a fluffily gently smutty j/c one shot. The captain is bored towards the end of the first month home, so her devoted first officer comes up with an away mission. Totally corny and intentionally cliched. I needed a break from my story arc fan fiction. Still, it sits within that universe. phase 3: The alpha quadrant adventure begins My next big arc story starts around the debrief, counselling and settling back to the alpha quadrantas started in 'indiana idyll' and the one shots, and then jumps into an action adventure, as the admirals send them on what should be an easy diplomatic it mission, but clearly turns into a matter of life or death 'crossing the rubicon' [T]. Lots of the voyager crew have a part, as many are getting resettled, but the senior team are very prominent and make a lot of major saves. It has some crossover with characters from TNG and DS9. I have completely sorted to my liking the why C/7 happened finally! There is a peek at who might have been alternative love interests in a non J/C universe. Chapter 10 has a homage to Laura W and her joyride 's/10261799/1/Joyride' with her permission, thankyou. At the end, there is a bit of a curve ball that really shouldn't be unexpected for J/C to negotiate. An action fic with fluff and celebrations and resolutions. A one shot bit of light hearted thankfulness with Sha-mu-say [K] (no idea how that really is supposed to be spelled!), where M Gilmore contemplates the ceremony of thankfulness that the voyager crew have for their ship, one month-ish after returning to the alpha quadrant. it may get a second party chapter, as i like parties, and if i had survived the delta quadrant and got home, I would be up for as many parties as possible. This ceremony is alluded to in 'crossing the rubicon'. Fun and frolics, paint as well as thoughtfulness. [J/C intimated, Naomi, Marla Gilmore] The Measure of our dreams [T] is a gentle between adventures story that ends with the homecoming ball and the promotions ceremony, and I am also keen to watch star pirates of penzance, starring the doctor! It is concentrating on family and friendship, finally helping Seven settle in with her 'new collective' so that she gets what she really needs at this point - a family with a real mother, love and security. Chakotay starts to bind together his contrary differing selves to be able to make that development into a true man of substance. Lots of opportunities to celebrate and I love a great party! Slight angst only, mostly love and laughter. It is quite indulgent! It does take on some plot lines from previous stories, and plants some for the next action adventure or 2. It is very much focused on the J/C love affair, but the wider Janeway family and the Parisses are fairly central. We get some Harry, Mike, Delaney moments and Tuvok is welcomed back. Its more lunchtime australian soap opera than edgy space drama. Complete OK, so the doctor loves the sound of his own voice, and insisted the star pirates of penzance [K] had a bigger role than it got in the main story, and as I like the doctor, I agreed. So it is in the same 'universe' as my other stories, and occasionally weaves into one or other of them. It also works a bit around the preparation for him to present a case to be recognised as a sentient person, and starting a life as one off ship. Other team members flit in and out, in particular Captain Janeway, Reg Barclay and Seven and a smattering of B'Elanna and Miral. In progress and will be by necessity slower with periodic addition, as not a key story and you already know the ending from the measure of our dreams. Some one shots and some themes from life in the delta quadrant: A prequel - a delta quadrant shore leave [K] is some light relief posted for the captain's birthday. Fits with canon. Enjoy! A prequel - a question of timing [T] - its that chronometer moment. I really love the year of hell two parter, and had some thoughts around why the chronometer was so poorly received. Actually, I rather like the whole chronometer thing, and was surprised it never made it back into the reset timeline. So it does in mine, given as a gift in 'coming home with you and essential to a rescue in 'crossing the rubicon'. Fits with canon, as scenes around the known. J/C A prequel - shuttle of the damned [M] - the original timeline. My take on the Seven dying in the arms of her husband, Chakotay and how they might never be the same again. Clearly an expected major character death is involved. J/C most definitely, C/7 alluded to J/A intimated. Drat the compulsion to try and make it fit with canon. Trust me, I really wanted that happier resolution, and it would be so easy to write. An alt timeline post endgame - All she wants for Christmas [K] - a piece of seasonal J/C centric fluff and a heartfelt thankyou for every reader, commenter, favouriter and follower. It is set in one of my alternative thought universes for how a post endgame 'coming home without you' could have played out if Chakotay had left Voyager with Seven. clearly since I have written it, it has a J/C ship ending. This little fluff piece is all about the resolution rather than any angst. Enjoy the earworm of Ms MC singing the original, or imagine a gravelly, sexier version... C/7 implied, J/O implied, J/C. Nother alt timeline post endgame - to thine own self be true [T] - I know, C/7 is like a scab I keep picking to work out why. It might get an epilogue, but currently I like that it finishes with hope but also with a beginning. C/7 and the beginnings of J/C And yes, I did remove a story! Miscellany! Oh my word! A challenge of Khan and Kathryn facing of in the grounded cargo bay of SS Botany! From Hell's Heart I stab thee! [K] A hopefully humorous and thoughtful combination. It says complete, but... I could, you know, write some more [we all know I could always write some more!] Coming next 1. I have the next stories in the action arc, that I started to write and had beta read, but disaster of disasters, and laptop died and lost the lot. Am going back to writing directly to site on my iphone and just putting up with the grammar until i get a new laptop. It will happen. After all, I have written my 'final chapter of all' for this whole universe so I do need to get to it! 2. being sketched out is an alternate timeline, where the J/C triumphant ending of coming home with you series didn't happen. currently loosely titled 'the queen of isolation' [M] I had wondered whether i would be J/C or J/O when i started coming home with you, and so this is how i provisionally saw the J/O. it might still turn back to J/C by the end just with a very much angstier middle- there still will be no C/7 happiness, ever. not as dark as some people get, but probably as dark as i get! Not sure when this will actually appear tho I have lots of the key drama points in my head and I like them! oh, one of which sort of got rewritten into 'all she wants for christmas' Actually, this was supposed to be a short prequel to the all she wants for christmas and my imagination has gone totally crazy. I think it might become an epic. What happens when I finish my story arc? I might have got writing fanfic out of my system when I complete this voyager arc and spinoffs and stop. Due to work, the speed of writing has definitely decreased. I guess it depends if anyone is still reading and commenting, how crazy busy my life is/how much i need a distraction from my life. I guess I am not that sure that people really want to read what I write, so mostly write the story that is running through my head. However, please message encouragement as always welcome. Thankyou: for reading, please, please, please take time to review [abject plea] if you can. Even if i wrote it ages ago, it will encourage me to write more. If you review, follow or favourite I usually go to read your work, and then your favourited stories! I try and thank all reviewers. I guess, like all fanfic writers, I do need encouragement to put it out there! Otherwise, I could just let J/C talk in my head whilst I am driving - they do that alot. Thankyou for the reviewers, favourites and followers for making me smile and encouraging me to continue! Thankyou for all the fab fanfic writers who have written all those stories I have favourited! There are lots of them, brilliant stories, definitely worth a good read! Disclaimer!: I am not a writer, having last written when at school! [30-ish years ago] So I apologise for: capital letters - i am lazy with the shift key, i know they exist; long convoluted sentences - i need to remind myself to breathe; abrupt tense changes - i mostly try and correct these; english spellings - i am english, so are they; grammar errors - if you tell me, i will fix it! Also, due to busy life, I am often writing on the phone in snatched moments. So I apologise for iphonisms. This is also pretty terrible for spotting spelling mistakes, or adding in or missing letters. I do try and review and change. Honestly, one day when I have got the story out, I am actually going to revise and rewrite. But it is such a big deal to get the story out at all. A Pictorial representation of my main story timeline [I was supposed to be doing something else, so distraction activity] only works on laptops! Capitals for main story lines to the arc, bolds for the central stories in the arc, and the parallels are parallel!
