![]() Author has written 4 stories for Transformers/Beast Wars, and Parodies and Spoofs. Fanfiction is “by the fans, for the fans”. We are inspired to share each of our unique interpretations and ideas. Story elements and characters transcend their original meaning to become something new in the minds of new writers. This form of creativity can only arise from admiration for the source material. When the products of our inspiration become abused or censored in the name of the "owner's" image, all that admiration vanishes and can never be regained. Because imagining a world without possibilities isn’t worth shit. I've been composing the above paragraph since I joined. I guess you can call it the fan author's maxim and if you like it, you're welcome to use it. Fan authors should also look up fair use or transformative works, these should be a must-read for anyone interested in fanfiction. All legal stuff aside, how I feel as an artist actually matters. In all honesty I started writing Protoforms long before I knew it was technically this thing called fanfiction or that there were websites dedicated to sharing such works. So I knew from the start that I created this as a passionate individual The word fanfiction has become popularized as something lacking talent or decency. People don't realize there can be amazing stories with a unique spin to keep readers wanting more. Fans should remember to be considerate to fellow fans because we each take a different approach to the creative process. I see this hobby as benefiting the fan author by allowing them to develop a story without the stress of protecting it; and sharing their talents with other people with similar interests. I've grown as a writer from my experience here. While I may periodically share a few light and eclectic shorts, my main project here is Protoforms. This is the only long fic I will ever write. It will remain a stepping stone as I am writing my own original works. I aim for an audience of youth to young adults, so things can get serious but won't be too graphic. My deviantart username: Callenward (now featuring cover image from thumbnail and other concept art. CHECK IT OUT.) Update about Protoforms Chapter 14 is by no means the end of the story, but it is where I have chosen to stop writing and I don't know when, or if, I will pick it up again. This has been an intense experience that grew beyond what I thought I could create. I want to thank anyone who took the time to read any of it, but I want to give a special thanks to users ohmygiddyaunt and AutobotGuy710. I haven't had many reviews, but just seeing that even two people came back over and over and stopped to leave a review made a huge difference. Thank you so much, you guys ROCK! Pointless facts about Protoforms I use the time unit 'cycle' though, I have not settled on how long a cycle lasts because laying out the exact conversion disrupts the flow of the story. I introduced female characters, even though I don't think robots can have gender. The title isn't Transformers: Protoforms because they do not transform (yet). A Quintesson (or judgekin) means only one of the Quintesson heads. The whole body and all five heads is called a Court. January 2019 Update I am still working on writing, but my next goal is to get a Beta reader for upcoming chapters. |
