![]() Author has written 45 stories for Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Temeraire, Avengers, and Captain America. She/her. Insofar as my Narnia work is concerned, this vision is not my children's Narnia and may not be yours. I am an adult, writing adult characters for an adult reader. This is Narnia for grown ups. If you're uncertain, just go take a look at the reviews for I love not man the less but nature more or Maenad of the Maquis. (not Maenad itself, it's M rated. Just the reviews). Go on. I'll wait. OK? You read them? Alright. So now what? After writing over 1.5 million words of fanfiction over 25 years under multiple monikers, and being a professional non-fiction writer in real life (with published fiction as well), I've heard just about every flame and oh-so earnest critique of my morality that could be leveled. If God is telling you to avoid this near occasion of sin, best to move along, yes? IF, on the other hand, you are curious about exploring something a little different that readers seemed to like, by all means, stop by and have a look around. Drop me a line and we can chat. I'm rthstewart everywhere but I hate the Tumblr interface. My work is pretty different from what you might be used to, so I suggest the first 4 chapters of The Stone Gryphon, Part 1 or the first 3 chapters of By Royal Decree as good places to start. It is for you that I keep my work on this site, rather than just migrating it all to AO3, though I've gotten some really nasty comments there, too. Firiel-Archer drew FABULOUS ART FOR Rat, Crow, Heart and Sword. Reading order: There is a (dated) chronological reading order on my Dreamwidth here. All of Food For Thought including the pictures and proper formatting (which this site keeps stripping out), can be found here. Triggers, warnings, tags, pairings, etc. No dub con, incest, cutting, torture, physical abuse, or child abuse. No non-canonical character death (OCs do die). Includes people of color, theology, environmental stewardship, evolution, espionage, dodgy acts in pursuit of moral means, biology, ethology, benevolent (if negligent) Lion deity (unless Tumnus is the pov character -- trust me, he's a very unreliable narrator), terrible comma usage, lots of history/detail fetish, and discussions of mating of humans and other animals. Queer characters abound and I don't warn for it. If hummingbirds or otters are present, you can expect swearing; also true-to-period swearing in the final chapters of Rat and Sword Go To War. As to mental illness, in Stone Gryphon one terminally ill original character harbors occasional depression and suicidal ideation. An original character in Chapter 23 of Harold and Morgan has a major depressive episode from which she recovers. Lucy also has a depressive bout in Chapter 2 of Star Husband. If these are triggering, drop me a line and I'll let you know how to avoid it. Underage sexual content is vague -- a few paragraphs in I love not man the less but nature more and Rat and Sword Go To War might involve characters who are 16-17. Other triggers and tags are warned of in the beginning of a chapter. Herd Mentality is the exception. Chapter 2 includes emotional and physical abuse and rape of a non-human character. If you have questions about the story, please PM me or skip it. Chapter 2 of Father Goose includes the discussion of the death by suicide of an original character. Skip that chapter if triggering. To answer an often-asked question, yes, Morgan of Linch is deliberately written as, and intended to be an autistic woman of color. Originally, she was written as having numerous characteristics common to Aspergers. In 2013, while I was writing Harold and Morgan Not A Romance, Aspergers was rolled into autism in the DSM-5. If you have any questions about her, please feel free to drop me a line. Funny to be updating this again after so long. When I first started posting in Chronicles of Narnia over here, two popular BNFs were concluding their reign and we were waiting for the VoDT movie. The two most popular genre in Chronicles of Narnia fic were Golden Age Love Triangle and super intense, highly emotional hurt/comfort Peter and Edmund that the writers, bless them, insisted were not slash. A strain of nasty homophobia ran deeply through the fandom on this website and Female OCs were usually criticized as Mary Sues. It's nice to see the romance stories and FOCs returning. Something that is sad are the number of very talented writers who have left the fandom over the last few years. There are many reasons for it but one is definitely that they realized they were queer and that they would be condemned in the fandom where they were writing their stories. So, if that's you, whether as creator or reader, or both, I'm super sorry. I endeavor to make my work safe and welcoming even as other elements of the Narnia fandom remain very homophobic. Feel free to drop me a line sometime if you're struggling or feeling that you aren't welcome. With gratitude and admiration to the creator of The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis, and the other content creators from whose work I develop my derivative fiction. I claim no ownership interest whatsoever in any derivative fiction I write. Any original content in my derivative fiction is in the public domain and may be used freely and without notice to me or attribution. |
