![]() Author has written 4 stories for Final Fantasy X-2, and Kingdom Hearts. Hey there, I'm Child Of The West Wind :) I’ve been away from this website for a while xD I’ve had a number of long-term health problems and changes in person circumstances over the last year or so, as well as keeping up with the demands of full-time education. I thank everyone for their patience and for all the people who sent me messages to check in and see if I was okay – I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement. Come the summer I should (hopefully!) have more time to write, and I’m aiming to post more regularly in 2019 (considering the bar is set at a year, this should be a relatively easy resolution to live up to!). I’ve also cooked up a bunch of ideas for new stories in other fandoms I fell into over the last couple of years (Skyrim and BREATH OF THE WILD 3), which I will be acting upon in the foreseeable future, so watch this space! :D I welcome any and all feedback on my stories; nice comments let me know my readers are actually enjoying what I do, and more importantly constructive criticism let's me know where I'm falling short so I can improve my writing skills and make my stories even better. With regards to my current stories: Hidden Fayth: This one is going to see some MAJOR edits before I post any new chapters. I hit writer’s block with it quite a while ago (2012 I think), and when I revisited it I was not at all happy with a lot of the content, and I like to think since I last posted on it my writing skills have improved, so I’m going to pick it apart before I continue. I don’t think there will be any drastic changes to the over all plot of the story, but there will be a lot of changes. I’ll leave a notice here and in the Author’s Note of the next new chapter when it gets posted to let people know of the changes. I am also thinking about doing a series of oneshot-style prequel stories surrounding the events of FFX/X-2 with my OC Elodie shoehorned into the plot (and hopefully it turning out not contrived or cliched). Since I started and left this story alone, that Final Fantasy X-2.5 thing and the audio drama came out, and... ...I'm just going to throw this out there - I didn't like the idea or the content of these things, so I'm just going to ignore them for the purposes of my own fanfics and pretend they're not canon to the actual series unless and until a Final Fantasy X-3 or similar game appears in the franchise. (And probably still disown it anyway, because seriously, Sin came back because 'reasons'? There had better be a damn good plot explanation for that one, Square!) The Keyblade Dragons: (The working title of this series) The Dragons' Blade, which is the first in a series of long Kingdom Hearts stories I intend to write, is complete :) and the next installment The Dragon Keeper (because I'm literally that imaginative in the title department) is currently under construction, with a oneshot I imaginatively named Dragons' Key: Blank Points, because why not xD I also have a bunch of random ideas for Kingdom Hearts AU scenarios and potentially some prequel oneshots surrounding the BbS gang. I haven't posted any of these yet because a) I'm not satisfied they're up to scratch yet, and b) I don't want too many distractions from my main stories at the moment. Some ideas in the works... There are a few. I have some AU ideas for both Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X/X-2, and I have a few Legend of Zelda related ideas (Skyward Sword, Twilight, and Breath of the Wild) I'd like to act on one day, but at the moment I want to focus my main attention on my existing stories, which have seen a lot of neglect recently. Something I will definitely write in the near future will be about the Books of Pellinor by Alison Croggon, following the end of fourth book. It's my favourite book series and there isn't a lot in the fanfic archives on the subject, so I'd like to (eventually) make a contribution to the fandom 3 Happy reading!!! XOXOX Something I feel worthy of note as it has a big impact on the regularity of my writing: I advocate the existence of chronic tick-borne illnesses, such as Lyme disease, that are exceptionally difficult to properly diagnose and treat, require way more funding and research to more fully understand, and require a lot more public awareness on the issue (such as, did you know there are 6x the number of Lyme disease cases per year in the USA than there are cases of HIV?). I have neuroborreliosis, and know from experience the situation on the patients' end well and truly sucks through a combination of severe symptoms, a political battle raging somewhere in the ether on the issue, and the doctors dealing with you not wanting to get involved with those politics, when said politics are what is making it so damn difficult to get adequate treatment in the first place. There's also the issue of 'after two-to-four weeks of antibiotics, any residual symptoms are purely psychosomatic' and 'if antibiotics didn't make you feel better then you clearly didn't have Lyme disease to begin with' as though these infectious diseases consultants have never heard of the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction before... I am aware there are members of the Lyme community who claim that Lyme disease is a big government conspiracy and biological warfare testing gone wrong or something to that effect - these claims really don't help the cause and I'd like to point out Ötzi the mummified 'Ice Man' who was found in the Alps and is around about five thousand years old had borrelia bacteria (the organism that causes Lyme disease) in his body tissue, and that borrelia bacteria were found in a five million year old tick fossilised in amber. The little bastards have been round for a looooong time is all I'm saying, and as for the scientific debate on the persistence of bacterial infection all I have to say is: paradigm shift. XOXOX DISCLAIMER: I do not in any way, shape or form own the rights to Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts, which my stories are based on. I also don't own the material I have referenced in my stories that come from outside the aforementioned fandoms; they belong to the various people who own the rights to the following: Harry Potter (J K Rowling), Earth's Children (Jean M Auel), The Books of Pellinor (Alison Croggon), The Inheritance Cycle (Christopher Paolini), His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman), Star Wars (I have currently lost track on this one, but they know who they are!), Star Gate (the series, not the film), How To Train Your Dragon (Cressida Cowell, though mostly cribbed from the movie version), The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo), Skyrim (Bethesda), and various BBC programmes such as Blackadder, Old Harry's Game and Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. Mostly the material used are names, concepts and ideas from these books which I have referenced as a tribute and because I think they are pretty damn awesome. Apart from characters, character names, places and place names, and the plots from the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy series, everything in these stories including original characters belong to me. I only take credit for that which I wrote myself, and I most certainly do not take credit for the items and articles I filched off my favourite books and games, such as names, places, spells and events that are referenced in my stories. I would also like to point out that my pen name is a reference to a line from the song 'Brothers Under The Sun' from the film Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron - which I also do not own the rights to, but adore and chose to honour in this manner, and again take no credit for whatsoever for originality. Thank you and bless you for reading this message to the end! :D |
