![]() Author has written 3 stories for How to Train Your Dragon, Trollhunters, and Legend of Korra. I've always been somewhat of a...well, a late bloomer, when it comes to trends. I've been writing fanfiction since before I even knew what it was called, and I've read countless fanfictions from this site before I finally decided on this historic day (July 15, 2018) to create my own account and share some of what I've written with other like-minded fans. I'm not going to claim I'm a writing expert or that everything I post will be perfect. I am a hopeless perfectionist, however, and I have made a vow that I will NOT post anything unless I intend to finish it. (Actually, I'll probably write the whole story in it's entirety before I post any chapters at all. That way, I don't leave anyone hanging from a cliff.) I've always been annoyed when I start a fanfiction and find myself hanging onto the story only to find that it was started 10 years ago...and never finished... As you can also probably tell, I have a tendency to get a bit...long-winded. I'm a detail-oriented type of writer; I want to know what everything looks like when I'm describing a scene. I want to feel what the character feels, hear what they hear, taste what they taste, smell what they smell... I also like to get inside the characters' heads. I like delving into that psychological realm that is sometimes so multi-faceted and complex... My favorite genre is mystery/suspense, adventure and romance (with, of course, a bit of humor thrown into all). Some of the types of stories I enjoy involve medieval charm or pirate settings. I also enjoy superhero worlds and westerns (yes, even the old fashioned black & white ones). In my free time I like to read, write, watch YouTube AMVs and binge-watch my favorite shows on Netflix. My favorite shows include: "Teen Titans" (the original one - NOT the horrible "GO" version), anything from the "How to Train Your Dragon" franchise, "Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia" and many others that fall in line behind these. My favorite books include: the Hardy Boys (blue cover Mystery Stories, Casefiles, the crossover series of Supermysteries, with Nancy Drew, and even the newer Adventures series), The Mandie Books series (my first favorite mystery series), The Christy Miller Series, The Lunar Chronicles, The Mapmaker Chronicles (which really doesn't get as much love as I feel it deserves), The Extraordinary Adventures of Ordinary Boy trilogy and pretty much anything written by Terri Blackstock (my personal writing role model). I am a Southern girl and I do not apologize if any of my Southern colloquialisms show up in my stories! ;P I may not post fanfictions very often, but if I do, they will be what I perceive to be my best attempt at the work. I put my heart and soul into my stories, and I want what you read to be worth the time you put into it. That said, I do appreciate constructive criticism. If you do not like the way I wrote something, please tell me why. If your reason is simply, "It's dumb," then, I probably will ignore you. But if your complaint includes a legitimate reason for why the scene doesn't work, then I am more apt to consider changing it to make it flow better or make it more believable. I will say this also: I do not use profanity, and therefore, my stories will not involve profanity (though that doesn't mean I can't be creative...). I also don't do lemon, slash or anything explicitly sexual in my stories. If you're seeing that material, it's your head that's in the gutter, not mine. :P So, with all of that covered, I draw this introduction to a close. I look forward to being a part of this community of fans and am looking forward to practicing my writing skills in an encouraging and healthy forum. Much love, Josie West "If you don't see the book you want on the shelf, write it." Beverly Cleary |
