Poll: My Gauntlet Dark Legacy Fic, Legendary Heroes, has reached the end of the initial nine planned chapters. Now I ask those who have read the fic, and its original incarnation, Heroes to Legends, what I should do? Should I continue with my original plan, which means eight to nine chapters to focus on all the boss creatures from the realms, or should I go straight into what would be an adaptation of the game? ![]() Author has written 25 stories for Final Fantasy I-VI, Generation X, SilverHawks, Gauntlet, Eternal Darkness, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, King's Quest, Shadow of the Colossus, Witch's House, Leisure Suit Larry, and Twilight Zone. Since 1997, and over the course of many lifetimes, I’ve written fan fiction for a few fandoms. I actually started my writing with walk throughs for old Game Boy Games, and moved over to prose fan fiction stories. Since then, I’ve developed my skills, and improved what I’ve put out there. While only one comic title, Generation X (The original run more so than the 2017 revival/continuation) has inspired me to write, especially the silent character originally known as Penance, it still tends to be the bulk of my writing works. Prior to starting any game based fics, I made an attempt at a crossover between Generation X and the Carmen Sandiego franchise. This crossover was not the best thing I’ve done, with some iffy ideas in it. Over the years, I have dabbled in many game based fics, which turned mostly into adaptations. I have been captivated by the role play genre first, with my entry based off the Final Fantasy Legend series (known as SaGa in Japan). I then got captivated by horror, with two entries based of Eternal Darkness, Sanity’s Requiem, and some old school adventure, like Sierra’s King’s Quest series. At one point, I attempted to do a story adapting the hack-and-slash game Gauntlet: Dark Legacy into prose. The format I used at that time proved to be difficult to use, and I scrapped the project at the time, with only four chapters posted. I also attempted start a series based off the cartoon Silverhawks. It did not do what I hoped, mainly because I used a character, and concept, that was not well thought out. Eventually, I did my first decent crossover involving two items that have a cult following. I did an adaptation of a very non-linear horror/puzzle game by Sierra called Shivers, mixing it with the 1970’s show Kolchak: The Night Stalker. I did leave this one set up with a ending that would leave a possible sequel story based off the second game. As the 2010’s began, I started one of my more ambitious projects, one that has become one of my most popular entries on FFN. After hearing a pod cast on video game music, I became interested in the game Shadow Of The Colossus. While I do not own any Sony game system, I sought out play through on YouTube. Eventually, I got inspired to do From Their Eyes, telling the story of the game from the eyes of the Colossi. I also have special chapters in mind for the end of the story, which as of this writing, is coming up soon. A few years later, I began another horror related project, adapting the free RPGMaker game The Witch’s House into prose. While this one is a little stalled, I still plan to finish this one. More recently, I began another game related project, The Modern Day Casanova, putting the first Leisure Suit Larry game into prose, keeping the humor alive that made the game so popular in its hayday. It’s my hope that the writing style I chose for it will do the title justice. Most recently, I was asked to return to Galaxy of Limbo, and started on a new project, entitled Infestation In Limbo. So far, from those who have read it, they are enjoying it. I’ve also started on several rewrite project, updating some of my older works, as well as bringing one exclusive to Comic Vine onto FFN. Any project that is still listed as Ongoing, but hasn’t seen an update in a while is not dead. I’ve had a very trying few years, and in the past few months, I’ve been dealing with a good deal of life issues, which includes the passing of my wife. These projects aren’t dead. They are just in a holding pattern. |
