![]() Author has written 1 story for Yu-Gi-Oh. Bio: I often find myself writing just for the hell of it, and I do have many original fiction plotlines and stories I have finished/am working on. However, we [all fan fiction writers] have all experienced some sort of let-down from a plot twist or event that did/didn’t happen. This fuels our imagination to write what we feel should have happened. Am I right? I started writing fan fiction a while back, dissatisfied with the many flaws in the Death Note plotline [i.e. freaking L dying]. However, the story turned out to be inexplicably similar to all the other L-not-dying fan fictions out there. I have just recently discovered this site. Before, I’d write and post fan fiction to series exclusive fan fiction sites. But then I started to feel dissatisfied with those sites, and my writing, so I left the past behind. However, that got me to a roadblock… Where to post now? So I utilized Google. The first result that popped up was Fanfiction.net. Holy Crap! A site solely dedicated to fan fiction? I clicked the link, and practically had an aneurism when I saw all the categories, which brings us to present day. Things I will not do while WRITING FANFICTION: -Write a ONESHOT; I loathe these things, they’re pretty much the epitome of evil to me. Now, I admit, I will occasionally read one with an excellent summary and a well thought out title, written by an author whose previous works I’ve enjoyed. However, I will never ever ever ever write one… EVER! -Rush through my writing to put something out there; this may mean there’ll be 4 or 5 weeks between new chapters, but I do not believe in rushing through a writing to put a new chapter out there. Your patience will be rewarded. -Write shorter chapters just to put something out there; I do not believe in cutting corners… PERIOD. If I have a lack of time on my hands, I’ll take longer to write my next chapter, period. -Post new or off-the-press work; I review everything. This’ll save me the trouble of going back to fix a mistake or having to rewrite a chapter I’m discontented with. If my writing isn’t excellent, you won’t see it until it is. -Write a SONGFIC; these are annoying, and they are usually a oneshot. Songs + Fan fiction = Literary Crap… no matter how good the song is. -Take requests for a story without a good reason from the author; I will take requests, just give me a logical reason. After all, anyone who requests is usually an FF author. If you’re an author, there has to be a reason you don’t want to write it yourself. -Borrow other’s OCs; Even if given permission, I don’t do this. I may allow others to borrow my OCs as long as they give me credit. However, I have plenty of ideas for OCs, I do not borrow. -Get offended when one of my OCs names end up in a fanfiction; I understand that names can get duplicated. I don’t rant at people who use names that are generally common or cool-sounding. However, if someone deliberately uses the name, appearance, and personality of one of my characters without my permission for a story clearly posted after my own, then I get mildly aggravated. Things I will not do when CHOOSING/READING/REVIEWING FANFICTION: -Read a story with a bad summary; I don’t care if people claim they “suck at summaries” or “don’t care”. I’m not looking for excellence, but a summary is a 2 or 4 sentence wrap-up of your story’s plot. If you can’t write a decent summary, it shows that you have no idea where your story is going. -Look at review count when choosing a story; If every reader cared about this, then the review count would stay at 0. I won’t hesitate to be the first reviewer either. -Go easy on your story because it’s your “first story”; Expectations for a good fanfiction stay the same, they don’t vary. Just as first impressions are important in a conversation, a strong first story defines who you are on fanfiction.net. -Respect an author who doesn’t know the difference between flames and critiques; A flame is a harsh review with the sole intention of insulting the writer to the point where the writer decides to stop writing. A critique points out the bad and good in a story. Some writers get easily offended and take the later as the former. This I can’t stand. -Hold back my opinion by request of the author; I don’t except people to do it for me, so I won’t do it for other people. If I input my opinion for a review, it’s to strengthen your ability as a writer. -Take excuses; I’ve heard them all, I’ve seen them all, and most of them are BS or shouldn’t matter whether your writing/summary is good or bad. -Read a story with bad grammar; Now, one or two mistakes are fine, but I've seen things like this. He are running up to get the box. He gasped and opened it is it christmas present? He smled gladly as takes box That + Reader = *Breaks Monitor* (Note, I have seen stories written that poorly before... on Fanfiction) Biased Stuff Pairings I Like (Yeah I'm a guy, yeah I have a pairings list, no I'm not gay. Also, I hate that name fusion thing, so I use [Name]x[Name] formatting)- Death Note-*cricket chirps* THEY'RE ALL FLUMPING GAY DAMNIT Bleach-IchigoxRukia ('cause it used to be cannon) UryuxOrohime (a genius and scatterbrain, such a great pairing for comic relief) Kirby-*cricket chirps* (The cricket chirps are self-explanatory) Black Cat- TrainxEve (Train's cannon-based girlfriend, Saya, was dead before any real character development took place... and Eve's the closest girl in his life, it makes sense. And for those who want to complain about age difference, at least it's not EvexSven [I have seen this pairing]) SvenxRinglet (Cannon-ish) Yugioh- YugixAnzu (Cannon) MaixJoey (no real explaination for this... oh yeah, and yes, Joey's the girl in this relationship) TristenxSerenity (Blame Yugioh Abridged) KaibaxKaiba's Work (this is a joke, by the way) KisaraxAnyoneWho'sNotSeto and or Kaiba (SCREW CANNON I HAVE GREEN HAIR... in America!) AtemxMana (their childhood friends and stuff, it makes perfect sense) Fullmetal Alchemist- EdwardxWinry (~Cannon~) MustangxHawkeye (they obviously love each other, despite the fact that they pretend to hate each other... also, it's CANNON) Pairings I Hate (Hate is such a strong word, let's say, strongly hate, that makes it even stronger!) Death Note - ALL OF THEM Bleach- I'm kind of apathetic about all other pairings, except any Yaio or Yuri pairings. Kirby- Let's face it, Kirby wasn't made for pairings Black Cat- TrainxKyoko (there's a fine line between love and obsession, Kyoko murdered that line) TrainxCreed (It's a yaio for one, and 2, holy crap, I can't believe I'm saying this on this side... It's one-sided cannon-ish) Yugioh- Yami/AtemxAny of Yugi's friends (creepy, he's 5000 years old, talk about an age difference) Set/Kisara (he flumping [indirectly] kills her due to his letting the lies get to his head, not pair-worthy) Favorite Real CharacterXOC (will expand with stories so you don't get lost) TakeoxKisara- Because it's so flumping obvious! |
