AU. Caroline Forbes was 12 years old when she came home to find her mother murdered. 12 years later, as a homicide detective in New Orleans, she decides to reopen the case. She then meets the mysterious Klaus Mikaelson, who tells her that there is more to her mother's murder than she originally thought.
