I am Peter Hansen. I used to be born in Connecticut. I spent nearly all of my childhood in Stonington, a tiny, seaside town about the Connecticut-Rhode Island border. My dad would be a commercial fisherman and since he was from Norway, life around the sea would be a natural for him. My mother was obviously a housewife. We had been the standard '50's family. A lot of my childhood was spent around the docks and fishing boats for sale of Stonington. In 1954, my father plus some with the other fishermen made a decision to try their luck at shrimping in Brownsville, Texas. After a few months, and extremely little success, we returned to Stonington. A lot of the Stonington boats were selling their catches in New Bedford, MA, so that it was no surprise that in 1959, we packed up and moved. New Bedford remained my house through my secondary school years. I graduated from New Bedford Secondary school in 1965. I'd the chance to head to college, but I chosen a hitch inside the Navy. Should you recall, during those times, you simply were built with a few choices: go to college, wait being drafted, enlist or get wed and hope all went well. After an exciting ten weeks at NTC Great Lakes plus a little while leave, I flew to Subic Bay inside the Philippines, to catch my ship, the USS Mansfield DD-728. Our main mission was plane guard duty using the carrier USS Kittyhawk. We also alternated three day support fire missions using the other ships within our group across the Vietnam coast or over the Saigon River once or twice. Lots of excitement to have an eighteen yr old kid. We'd liberty calls in Hong Kong, Yokosuka, Subic Bay and Pearl Harbor. In June of 1966 I went to CT (Communication Tech) school in Pensacola, FLA. Upon graduation, I had been provided for Bremerhaven, Germany for two years approximately. After being discharged in the Navy in 1969, I returned home and met the girl I might end up marrying in April of 1970. We have two grown daughters and four grandchildren. We live in Acushnet, MA., which is right outside New Bedford. My websites: prevajanje iz slovenščine v angleščino |
