Oxford Street Contemporary is an art gallery exhibiting contemporary art for sale. It resides in the iconic Tin palace building in Lyttelton, a vibrant historic town on the Banks Peninsula, Christchurch, New Zealand. The gallery showcases art from both established and emerging artists. All art is affordable and fits the contemporary theme. Exhibitions are either joint, solo or group based. So far the themes we have had have been Landscapes, Super League artists, ‘Simulacrum', a contemporary view of portraits and the human figure. The latter is a stunning exhibition with high quality work at affordable pricing. Visit the gallery on a Friday after work as it is open until 7.pm with a glass of wine and enjoy art in a relaxing environment. Lyttelton has a great social scene with many restaurants, wine bars and shops. Visit the famous farmers market on Saturday and then pop into the gallery to view and buy some affordable art. Tim and Madhu Rees who are originally from the UK run the art gallery. Both were in the corporate world but have now dedicated their time and money on this new venture. |
