![]() Author has written 2 stories for Gate - Jietai Kare no Chi nite, Kaku Tatakeri, and Elder Scroll series. I've been influenced by a whole bunch of things when it comes to my writing. Some of these things include: Computers: I've always been interested on how technology interacts with people's lives, and how that can be integrated into the narrative of a story. TV Shows: Star Trek, especially Deep Space Nine. I liked how this series took a darker turn, and how the narrative, unlike the other Star Trek shows, was actually carried across from episode to episode. Also, a more recent one, Master of None, which, along with being incredibly funny, said some very interesting things about race and relationships. Anime: There are so many that it would be hard to include them all. First Fate/Zero, which, unlike Fate/Stay Night was able to tell a tighter and darker story that was well suited to the anime format. Also, Shinsekai Yori, (From the New World) which demonstrated what characters' reactions to an authoritarian utopian government would likely be--they wouldn't do much. Last would be Steins;Gate which told one of the more fleshed out and believable time travel stories in that genre. Movies: The Star Wars films, if for no other reason that they're both popular and pretty good. Including anime movies, Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name) which, along with being absolutely beautifully animated told a very compelling and emotional story. Books: The Lord of the Rings series and the Hobbit, as they introduced me to the genre of fantasy. Also, The Man In The High Castle, for focusing on the lives of normal people in an alternate reality. Things I would like to write about (a partial list): Neon Genesis Evangelion. From it's heavy depressing narrative to it's relatively blank slate MC (Shinji Ikari), this series is ripe for fanfiction to be written about it. The Elder Scrolls series. Even though it's a video game series, the Elder Scrolls has a wealth of lore that hasn't been expanded upon much in-game. The Harry Potter series. This series has the biggest fanfiction community for a reason. It's a popular series that has very well developed characters, which makes it great to write about. The Lord of the Rings series. Due to the prevalence of large battles in this series, crossovers with other series could be introduced to great effect. GATE. I just don't feel like this series has been expanded on enough in the fanfiction community. For most works there, it seems to be more about inserting different armies to mostly the same effect. I'd like to focus on the psychological effects of war on people, and have a more realistic international community.Stories I'm working on now: Morrowind: Civil War is inspired by alternate history books such as "Guns of the South," by taking a major historical event, the American Civil War, and bringing it into contact with the world of Tamriel. Interesting results will surely ensue. GATE: A Tale of Strategic Resources. Gate is a series about international conflict. This story focuses on a soldier who is caught up in all of this. It focuses on his and others' psychological states and the reactions of the world at large to what is happening. |
