Ness Ayton

Not my real name as you may, or may not, have guessed, I've gone through a number of nom de plumes over the years but have finally settled on this one as it relates back to one of my Scottish ancestors. And it's as good as any to collect all of my writings under.

I first started writing fanfiction with "Arthur of the Britons" - showing my age there then - and progressed through classic "Star Trek", original "Battlestar Galactica", "Blake's Seven" and finally came to rest for a number of years on "Robin of Sherwood". For some reason there then followed a long spell where I stopped writing until I discovered "The Magnificent Seven" and began to write again, moving into the new area of slash which I'd never written before. Then along came "Torchwood" and with the Jack/Ianto relationship I have found ready made material for more writing.

I've started by putting my new "Torchwood" stories up on this site and intend to add my early writings, which should be out of copyright from the zines in which they appeared some mumble mumble years ago! My stories tend to be either quirky or angsty. What that says about me I don't know because I reckon I'm a pretty happy down to earth person really.

As for me I work in (boo hiss) insurance - not my initial choice of career - I used to teach but got tired of the red tape and unrealistic expectations. Now I go to work at nine, leave at five and the rest of my time is my own for writing and doing other things I like. I also direct amateur shows, primarily Gilbert and Sullivan, but have done other things.
