Meg and Eugene grew up together in the orphanage. After they turn seventeen foster homes are found for both of them and they have to say goodbye to each other. Meg is afraid she'll never see her best friend again. As she attends public school for the first time, she finds herself wishing Eugene was with her. Then, to her surprise, she finds out Eugene is attending the same school.
