Generally, I am a grammar/ syntax nazi; but a lot of what I have read lately makes me want to throw myself from something very high onto something very hard... so I am starting to think that, perhaps, it might be time to give up the good fight and join a grammar monastery. However, I have reached a compromise with myself to thee effect that I will submit to the [sometimes] brutal assault on the English grammatical system if the writer in question can at least get the syntax of what they are writing correct (it's still looking like it's going to prove to be a futile exercise)

As for my own writing... well, it's kind of stalled... and when we say stalled it's the horrific combination of writer's block (for Man of Misunderstandings and A Road Roller at Hogwarts) reviewer indifference (Man of Misunderstandings) but, perhaps most pertinently, I have no damn time. I would have more damn time if someone kidnapped my children (you would be expected to return them in a few weeks).

I (still) plan to:

[1] Remove most of my stories because they're:

a. crap

b. exercises in developing an idea without paying any actual attention to story mechanics

[2] Go back and properly edit Song For the Solo Dancer and the early chapters of man of Misunderstandings ... Those stories, like many of my other efforts, started off as a throwaway idea and then got away on me, with the usual result that I didn't pay any actual attention to what I was doing with respect to anything other than the primary narrative core... funnily enough, a story won't hold together on that alone.

I still tend to play with words a bit too much for my own good - everyone needs a hobby, I guess...
