![]() Author has written 22 stories for Bones. About 'Skole': My pen-name is taken from the Season 4 episode 'Mayhem on a Cross' - the scene where Brennan is correcting Clark on the Norwegian pronunciation of Skalle, which was phonetically pronounced as 'Skole' - this is still one of my all time favourite BONES moments. The word skole does not mean skull, in Danish it means school & it is also the name of an Eastern European locality. If skole happens to be a slang word for something naughty, that I am not aware of yet, I guess I'll learn to live with it! About me: I live in Australia, but I was born and raised in the UK. If you have read my work, you probably realise that I have a very quirky sense of humour. I write in a professional capacity, mainly on technical, operational and academic issues. My job is highly specialised, employing my unusual skill set, and my ability to 'tell stories' with data. I am primarily a health professional, but I have multiple degrees and qualifications in other areas. Currently, I am working steadily towards my first PhD. This may explain why I can pull off 'squintese' in my stories - in fact, I have to tone my squinty tendencies down, otherwise nobody would 'know what it means'. Update - August 2012: I've taken a hiatus from writing for a while. Life threw a few challenges in my path. Happily, I have worked through the hard times and have recently married a wonderful man, who is also a brilliant wordsmith. We would both like to return to writing & I am regularly asked to finish 'Pie'- which I will try to do soon. Thanks for all the readers who have contacted me - your words make me smile :) I am always happy to chat via PM, or you can follow my musings and wise-cracks on Twitter (@Skole_Bone) - please feel free to banter with me. THE MULTI-CHAPTER FICS: - Some musings on the stories (or WTF was 'Skole' thinking / smoking when that was written) Tequila - My first fanfic (aww!) Following episode 100 of Bones, I was inspired to write an aftermath piece - but I wanted to prove to myself that I could complete something on this site. So I set a goal - approximately 1000 words per day, with daily posts until I finished it. (I took one day off - the faculty sprung a suprise award on me & I had to go and accept it & do the paparazzi thing). I decided to throw science, logic and my post-100th reactions into a piece that became quite cathartic on many levels - of course, I added plenty of humour and a splash of tequila. (COMPLETE) Rings - The sequel to Tequila. Continuing in the same humourous vein - I'm aiming to explore what happens next with B&B following the 'dam breaking'. Can they be in love, in lurve, and still be partners. I think that they can & I'm hoping that you think so too. This is a case-fic and has required a fair amount of research to get the squinty details right. (COMPLETE) Progeny - My 2010 Hiatus Project - This is a Work in Progress which I commenced as the dust settled from Season 5 Finale. The eye-sex at the airport, the room for the Holy Spirit between B&B, the symbolism in that hand grip and the solicitious advice from Brennan to Booth - minutes after she had told Hodgins precisely what that behaviour meant. Hoo boy! The analyst spidey senses started tingling - there was a missing scene! And so 'progeny' came to be... This story is a departure from my comfort zone...heavy on fluff and just a dash of humour. I know it will never happen this way, but let's take a break from the angst people! (COMPLETE) Perfect Path in the Pie - Winter Hiatus Challenge - Written as a challenge from the Bonesology forum. This is a fifty chapter project in progress, that includes 40 themed chapters based upon the Rolling Stone Magazine's 'Top 40 songs of all time' - followed in strict reverse order (because I like order - LOL!). Just to add a degree of difficulty, the story is overlaid against the 2011 Lenten calendar, with the central premise that Booth, following the departure of Hannah, and in an attempt to pull his head out of his ass, decides to give up pie for Lent. To keep the shipper home fires burning, Booth and Brennan also work through their backlog of issues and finally move forward, while being involved in a task-force to bring down a sadistic gang called the 'No Han Han' (Yeah, I know - shuffle the letters and you get 'No Hannah' *surprise!* - juvenile on my part, but just a parodic stab of impatience). | |||||||
