I will never forget you MaomiMao aka PrettyKat aka Inita aka Krysta no Himitsu aka Kathy.D.Lee aka Dead Writer06 aka AxelXIII07...! Hún hefur gaman af því síðasta orðið, en hvert orð gerir minna vit. She does love a good drama...She keeps posting me under a different name, isn't that odd and amusing? átján skilaboð til að segja mér að hún hatar það þó. Það er afneitun. Mig langaði til að gráta, en hló í staðinn. I shall keep all of her little notes. Special thanks to Taheria! She's great in attracting more attention to my profile. Thanks, Taheria - you're the best! I know you'll be out there advertising for me, which allows me more 'me' time :) I appreciate it so much!!! I've up thirty profiles views with your one comment and it was so mild! She's just perfect. Wish you the best, Taheria for all the hard work you do. This is address to people who wish to complain about the harassing of so-called 'CC' forum called Eliminators that do everything but give out CC. Go to the bottom of your screen and click the word 'Help'. There you can find the email address for support. Many writers who are witness this group and others like it attack other authors are sending in this letter. You may copy it and send it in as well. You can add more to it. You must do this with your email address, not by private message. In the subject title of the mail type: [abuse] Now the letter: Hello, I have witness a harassment on Fanfiction and I would like to report it. It is more of a group doing the bullying as they act in assumption of authority. If I understand correctly, a member who finds a story breaking a rule should report it properly with fanfiction.net by the use of the tools provided by the site instead of interacting with the author about it themselves. Instead this particular group reviews the story with a response that can give the misinterpretation that they have authority to do so. 'Eliminator' is the reason and the heart of what I am finding worrisome. This group has a forum within fanfiction.net (http://www.fanfiction.net/forum/Eliminator/111885/) Within this forum one can easily see the bullying that is progressing in this area. I believe the forum started with truly good intentions but now has escalated outrageously with assumption of some kind authority that is leading to encouraging 'flaming' if authors ignore their reviews. Quoting from Wikipedia of the definition of Internet Flaming: Flaming, also known as bashing, is hostile and insulting-interaction between Internet users, often involving the use of profanity. Quoting from Wikipedia of the 'Legal definition of Cyber bullying' legal glossaries as: -actions that use information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm another or others. -use of communication technologies for the intention of harming another person -use of internet service and mobile technologies such as web pages and discussion groups as well as instant messaging or SMS text messaging with the intention of harming another person. Using those definition here are quotes that can be found within the forum 'Eliminator' that match the cyber bullying/flaming definition. By member: Lifequasher (id: 3726052, Profile Updated: 12-08-12) This thread consists only trollfics, plagiarisms, and the stories which already had 2nd review. The members in charge of giving 3rd review of the violations are flamers. And then, once the violations posted here, they are free to be flamed at and reported. Reply 8/30/2012 . Edited by Greyshade, 10/29/2012 #1 http://www.fanfiction.net/topic/111885/70420792/1/Slash-and-Burn-MEMBERS-ONLY What I understand from reading further into this group is that three members of 'Eliminator' would review a story that they deemed in violations. If the author of the story ignores them, continues on with the story or respond negatively to them, then the third member of the 'Eliminator' would flame (according to Wikipedia is a provocative or offensive message) the author. Lifequasher, who is the founder of this group is clearly encouraging his/her members to bully authors that disagree with their 'rating' scale. Please take notice to their polls in their forums that seem to be provoking authors. Another example within the forum: This is from Greyshade (id: 4076901, Profile Updated: 12-18-12) People have different ways of reminding others. They can do it nicely or harsh and we won't change it to your liking. If you get a CC or flame, think about it. Note: Don't hold grudges. We aren't bad people. If you want our help and if we can do something about it, we'll gladly give you a hand. (http://www.fanfiction.net/topic/111885/63768098/1/Rules-Must-read-before-posting) Greyshade clearly states that the group will 'remind' people nicely or harshly then justify their reason for being harsh as helping the author. Another example by Mr. Perfectionist (id: 4172971, Profile Updated: 10-29-12) describing an area on the forum of the 'Eliminator' and what it is used for: A place to post the response of different authors regarding our group. Hate mails, reviews, forum post, PM, etc. Feel free to name and shame! This is where one of the areas I find truly disturbing. The group instigates arguments by telling the authors to remove their stories and then post what the authors tells them for everyone to review for entertainment purposes. Clearly it is for their own amusement. Even Mr.Perfectionist profile 'Wanna complain about the review, flame you received from my side? Wanna bitch about Eliminators? If so, visit the link below and shit out your frustration!' , can be viewed as consideration of being an instigator of a bullying. Clearly he/she wants a reaction to whatever he/she post in a person's review. Another example: http://www.fanfiction.net/topic/111885/64034467/1/Complaint-Thanks-You-re-always-welcome This is where authors or other people can complain about their reviews that an 'Eliminator' had given them as they do not take private messages – which again shows that they wish to do so publicly so everyone can read for their entrainment purpose. Post number 9 within above link says: 'There are a limited number of people running the site. This is why groups like this exist. These groups alert the admins of the site of which fics are breaking the rules, they review the fics themselves, and if they are, they remove them.' Again, this shows the idea was in good intention but now they seem to be using that slogan as a reason why they give authors warning to remove their stories. Post 18: Lifequasher again show encouragement to flame a person's work. It is one thing to give helpful advice but it by reading all these complaints; it seemed to have gone further than that. Post 23: Lifequasher writes: What are you going to do now? Open up an anti-forum? Lodge a complaint against us? Or post more rule violators? This seems to be mocking the complaint as well as hinting that nothing would be done because their cause is just. Post 26: A member copied a review by Mr. Perfectionist who signs as acting under Eliminator Please note post 28: Lifequasher (again, founder of Elimator) response. Post 36: Lifequasher again is falsely letting people believe that the Elimators are acting under Fanfiction's staff even by using inappropriate reviews within the story instead of private messaging OR simple submitting their concerns with the abuse tag fanfiction provides. Post 274 posted 1/11/2013 by Mr. Perfectionist says: 'If you choose to delete it yourself, sure, we'll not involve admins in it.' Again this statement shows that this group believes or allows others to believe that they are acting as staff of fanfiction.net. If there is a complaint about a story why do they not go through the proper authorized staff instead of taking it to the authority themselves? They are intimidating an author to delete the story. This should not be an option for them to do so. Post 275: Pokemon Ranger-Trainer says: 'FanFiction is supposed to be a safe site where people can feel comfortable posting their stories.' This person feels their privacy and security is threatened. Post 278: posted 1/11/2013 by Mr. Perfectionist who replies to post 275: If you want to enjoy comfortable wrinting here, just stick to site rules. It's not that hard, you know. We're not saying we're Perfect. It's just because we don't like crap to be posted here intentionally or unintentionally. Crystal clear. Crystal clear...That message could be considered threatening. Imagine a very young author - a child no less, reading that threatening message. People are starting to feel fear to post anything of their own. There are a lot of talented writers on fanfiction and a lot more in the making but being bullied into deleting a story would but a mental blockage in encouraging these young writers to put their work forward into the future. Mr. Perfectionist also has been making comments in reviews cursing and using offensive phrase 'retard' in many reviews, which when reporting an abusive review is considered as breaking the rules. Places: http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8777218/ http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8425986/ http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8912588/ http://www.fanfiction.net/r/9045853/ http://www.fanfiction.net/r/7669911/ He/She has been reported with the 'abuse' button in the reviews but no one is listening to us writers as he/she continues to harass. When confronted in the Eliminator's complaint selection of their forum about the abusive reviews, he/she replies this: 'The person is a retard. There are rules here and they are meant to be followed at all costs! If you can't follow or abide by yourself to them, then you're not required on this site.' When confronted with their action on acting or allowing people to believe they are staff of Fanfiction, this is Mr. Perfectionist reply: 'We very well know how to do our job and we're doing it well.' This can be found on Post Number 381. Their 'policy' can be found here: This is if someone is interested in seeking to be a part of their group. Note post number 6, which was made February 7th 2013 'The Flamer. Flamers are not common in Eliminator; but according to the second policy, Eliminator accepts flamer application.' They look to recruit people to flame - which again, is a type of bullying. I think this group and groups like it should be reminded that if they have a complaint about a story, whether they know or think they know the story is violating any or all the rules than they need to report it properly and not engage in any contact with the author about their view of the violation. Please look into this situation, |
