![]() For now I'm just a fan of fanfiction. I have several of my own in the making, but I write slow and I want to have enough built up to have at least semi-regular posts before I put it out there. As for me, I mainly read and write Naruto fanfictions, just because the world is so well developed and open to variation. I can't think of another anime/manga that is as well suited for fanfiction. As for information about me... I'm with Kakashi on this one: "I have no desire to tell you guys about my likes and disikes. Dreams for the future...? hmm.. Well, I have lots of hobbies..." If you know me then telling you all of that is redundant, and if you don't, then you don't really need to know about me. If I ever get anything posted you'll figure it out, because everything an author writes reflects on their personalities. You'll also figure it out if I send a review your way. I will make an exception to this for my thoughts on what I like and dislike in a fanfiction itself. All of this is of course based on the cannon story, and thus is subject to change based on the storyline of the fanfiction in question. In general I favor Naru/Hina pairings over others, but that doesn't mean there aren't some good ones out there. I won't say any pairing is best or worst because the potential of the pairing relies heavily on how the author has written the fic. One of the best I've read was a Naruto/Hanabi pairing that I thought was a horrible idea when I started reading the fic. I refuse to read ANY yaoi pairings, incest pairings, or pedophilic pairings (meaning anything resembling a sexual relationship with a person under the age of 16 with an age difference of more than a year, or anything with any form of a sexual relationship with a person 13 or under). It's fanfiction, so if you want to read/write it go ahead, but it's not my thing. I also prefer single relationships to harems, but if they're well written I can enjoy them (especially since one of my most recent works appears to be leaning towards a harem). As far as Naruto goes, I hate his wasted potential in cannon, but I dislike godly powerful versions as well. I prize character growth, and the power and capabilities should match that. I hated how long it took for Sakura to snap out of fangirl mode in cannon as well, so I prefer more tempered versions of her. Sasuke is currently the most confusing character to me, and since I can't get any sort of bead on what he really is like in cannon; I hate him. I don't care whether he's a jerk or not in the story, so long as his character is stable. Flip-flopping continuously like in cannon really ticks me off. That about does it. Now for my rant on the personalities of Naruto. There are essentially three personality archetypes that Naruto runs with in fanfictions. Type 1; aka. Hero Naruto. Hero Naruto is a good guy. He forgives quickly and fights off his own hatred as quickly as possible. He does get angry at things and takes offense to evil, but generally believes that people are good at the core of their beings. Anybody who manages to fall outside of this viewpoint is fair game to be destroyed. Any other kills that are unavoidable are done as quickly and cleanly as possible. Characters like Sasuke, Haku, and Gaara are to be saved, not killed. Type 2; aka Dark Naruto. Dark Naruto is the antithesis of Hero Naruto. He lives for himself regardless of whether or not he thinks someone is a good or bad person. He has no qualms about killing and torture and won't go out of his way to find the goodness in people. He can get along with people that make an effort at getting to know him, and will protect them much as Hero Naruto would, but doesn't really care about anybody in particular otherwise. Dark Naruto IS NOT EVIL! He can be, but it's not a character requirement. A good example of a non-evil Dark Naruto is "Reaching for a Dream" by Noodlehammer. Characters like Sasuke, Haku, and Gaara die at the hands of Dark Naruto. Type 3; aka Jaded Naruto. Jaded Naruto is NOT a mix of Hero and Dark Naruto. Jaded Naruto runs as a 'lost faith' type of character. Usually this is lost faith in Konoha or humanity in general. Jaded Naruto is a conflicted character and has a much more in depth viewpoint of the world than Hero or Dark Naruto, his 'lost faith' impacting his actions heavily. The simplest versions run that Jaded Naruto wants the world to work the way it does for Hero Naruto, but truly believes he's more likely to end up with Dark Naruto's results. Some Jaded Narutos work toward becoming more like Hero Naruto, knowing that it will be long and painful. Some give up on regaining their 'lost faith' and end of acting more like Dark Naruto. Regardless of end behavior, Jaded Naruto is conflicted! The inner conflict is what separates Jaded Naruto from Dark Naruto. Jaded Naruto is much more likely to have friends and allies than Dark Naruto because despite everything he still cares. Haku, Gaara, and Sasuke are equally likely to live or die based on how sympathetic Jaded Naruto is to their plight. This rant is because it irks me when people confuse Dark and Jaded Naruto. My one and only true pet-peeve: ridiculously long author's notes/review responses. Part of the way I determine whether or not I want to spend time on a story is the word count. A high word count means that an author has put significant time and effort into their story, and I respect that. A story that has 100,000 words is worth a look so long as it doesn't break one of the above-mentioned rules. Falsifying that word count by having 2000 words worth of notes or responses every chapter annoys me to an unfathomable degree. Not only are those words that aren't in the story, they're words that I have to decide whether or not I'm even going to read. Author's notes should sum up within 500 words, and that's generous. That gives a total of 1000 words per chapter, assuming chapters run 5000-10000 words (pre-note and post-note). Review responses should be sent via PM. If the reviewer was anonymous then they clearly don't care that much about getting an answer, or they'd make an account. Obviously this doesn't apply to every single chapter. If you get a dozen or more reviews saying/asking the same thing, then quickly address it in a note. If you have irregular circumstances that need to be addressed to the readers, then let it be known. If you have 2000 words every single chapter of AN and responses, I'm not gonna see the important stuff because I'll skip it all to get to the story. In short, AN's should be kept concise. About my reviews. I will warn that I sometimes word things in ways that sound worse than I intend. If I ever say something in a review that sounds horribly negative, I'm sorry. I try really hard not to be mean or rude. Everybody has their opinion and is entitled to write how they want. Everything I put down in a review is intended to portray my view of the content and quality. I don't believe in bashing, so please don't take it that way. At the same time, I don't appreciate or tolerate bashing, so if (assuming I ever get to the troublesome task of posting anything) you ever send me a pointless review about how I'm stupid or what I wrote is stupid, I won't respond. I'll simply block you. I do however strive to improve myself at all times, so if you think there is something I can do to make it better, drop a review and I'll gladly look at your advice. I'll do my best to respond to every review I get with an appropriate response. Thanks for all the great stories, and I'll do my best to supply at least one of my own. I currently have several that I hope to get large enough to post, one of which might actually have enough to post within a few months, but I'm co-authoring that one so who knows. My stories that I'm authoring solo will have a minimum of 30,000 words before I post anything, and chapters will be between 5,000 and 10,000 words. If I have any less then I don't feel like I've put in enough effort, and more is too much without a break. If I ever decide to write one-shots they will be exempt from this by their very nature. Stories and Status Shared Pasts (working title): 3 pages, 1,595 words A training accident between friends creates a bond like no other. When two people know more about each other than they know about themselves, what will happen? Screw Cannon (working title): 111 pages, 50,750 words, co-authored by MinkoElkra(looks like a lot, but it's not all written in order, so it's not ready yet) Naruto and Sasuke are good friends long before they're on a team. As a result, their choices about how they train themselves and how they treat others is completely different. With a nearly invulnerable taijutsu tank and a ninjutsu/genjutsu master of stealth working together, cannon gets thrown out the window. Nii Family (working title): 12 pages, 7152 words A response to challenge 5 from "Joshua the Evil Guy". What if Naruto and Hinata were both successfully kidnapped by Cloud all those years ago? What if they LIKED living in Cloud? Unrelenting Love: 1 page, 340 words Naruto returns from his training trip with Jiraiya and another unexpected follower that he just can't seem to shake. When this person declares her intent to make Naruto her husband the rest of the girls have mixed reactions. Now Naruto has to find a way to deal with them while trying figure out what it is he really wants. The Demon of Konoha (working title): 7 pages, 3929 words Minato's use of the Shiki Fuin has some unintended and grave side effects. What's happened to Naruto; after all, the seal was designed to seal away a mortal soul, not an immortal being of chakra. From the Plane of Shadow (working title): 3 pages, 2074 words On the day of the Kyuubi attack, a powerful being accidentally steps in from another world and helps out. Unable to stop the beast on its own, the person is able to allow Kushina to live long enough to make a single request; to look after her son. Naruto grows up with an eccentric, even by shinobi standards, and near deity level guardian on his path to become Hokage. Angel or Demon: 10 pages, 5999 words Demons and Angels are the same beings. The difference in the two exists entirely in which side of the war they fight on. Both fight viciously with extraordinary powers for the side they choose. What then is the difference between a demon of destruction and an angel of death? The answer, is whether you're at his side or on his hit-list. I'm something of a sporadic writer. I essentially have no real outlines or plans for any of these; just general ideas that I want to implement (thank you plot bunnies). Other than that I pretty much just wing it. Because of this the stories usually grow by several thousand words at a time, but rarely, and not in any particular order. This might change if I ever post anything and it gets good responses.
