The University of Birmingham Polo Club warmly welcomes anyone studying at the university. If you’re a rider or non-rider, final year or fresher, it makes no difference; polo is a fantastic sport and we wish to share it with as many as possible. We play at Rugby Polo Club, with the majority of members playing in lessons on Wednesday afternoons. Lessons are grouped according to ability and are taught by former New Zealand international Glynn Henderson and 3 goaler Phillip Baker. Polo is generally considered to be an expensive sport but we are able to provide lessons at the heavily subsidised rate of just £35 for a one hour lesson with pony hire included. As players progress they are encouraged to play in club chukkas held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. They are a great way to improve, have fun, and meet and play with Rugby Polo Club members. Socials are a big part of the club as well and there is usually one every week. They vary from nights out at the Guild and clubs in Birmingham to bowling and ice skating and the occasional trip to big polo events. Playing membership is priced at £20 and this includes a free taster session. Alternatively if you just fancy being an affiliate of the club you can become a social member for £5. A word of warning...if you do decide to join just be prepared for polo to completely take over your life. My websites: university of birmingham polo
