![]() Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter, Supernatural, and Avengers. Things that I would like you to know about me: 1) I've recently finished undergrad, and got a job. A very, very time consuming job. Updates come when they come. 2) I was writing fanfiction before I knew that it was a thing. My first published fanfiction was posted (to this site actually) nine years ago, and it was terrible. I've written in different fandoms, off and on, since then. Not my first rodeo, obviously. 3) I've got absolutely no tolerance for rudeness on this site. Seriously, if you're thinking of typing something to me that you would not say to a stranger on the street, then do us both a favor: don't. 4) AO3 is my new favorite place to be. So many great fanfictions there. Heaven. My profile is here Here's a link to my tumblr. Have a question about my work? Come by and let's chat. Note 11.15.13 So I'm not sure who reads profiles except me but here we go. Yesterday I posted the second chapter of Enharmonic Interval. Most people had something nice to say, and for the most part the feedback I got was great. But I'm still receiving messages with outraged readers calling the story stupid because 'Harry doesn't use magic.' Maybe it's just me, but if I came across a HP crossover where Harry doesn't use magic my first response isn't to grab the nearest sharp object and viciously attack the author. Instead I would wonder why and give the author the benefit of the doubt and keep reading. Yeah, I know. There are many bad fanfictions out there where we never get an explanation, and if we do, it's flimsy and sad and kind of makes us want to reach through the computer, grab the author by the shoulders and shake them. Even then, I keep reading because I ALWAYS give the author the benefit of the doubt. And oh well if I end up disappointed, it was a fun-ish ride wasn't it? I don't finish every story I start; If I feel that it's worth it might leave a review in the vein of, 'hey this was a really neat idea but...blah blah constructive crit blah blah.' I have never told anyone that they were a bad writer, or that their story was stupid, or even worse, that they have no business writing it. I've loved fanfiction for years. This is where I first whet my teeth as an author. I work hard on my stories, even the ones that no one read. No they're not perfect, and I truly do appreciate the feedback I get here. Let me be clear, constructive criticism is a great thing. If there is truly something that doesn't make sense, a weird bit of characterization, a plot device that's eye roll worthy - I want to know about it. But when multiple reviewers tell me my story is stupid because it wasn't what they expected, I don't know whether to cry or laugh. Because seriously? I mean...what even?! Is the HP/Avengers fandom truly so full of hateful people that they don't even bother to try to give an author a chance? I mean, do I have a sign painted across my face saying, 'hey jerks, come harass me?' Thankfully, most of you rock and I'll share my work with you guys, and continue to shake my head at the haters. There, I'm done. Note 10.26.13 I'm beginning to hate this site. Seriously. I might pull all my work down and move to AO3. Some of you people are insane. Insults and death threats a few hours after posting a new story... Pathetic. Note 10.5.13 I've continued to receive abuse for the apparent slash in Falling Skies. I'm absolutely done with it. I refuse to be bombarded with death threats and insults over a fanfiction. It can still be found on my profile on AO3, and I'll continue to update it there. Note 5.24.13 Sorry about the lack of updates recently. I've been busy trying to graduate from college. Note 3.5.13 All stories are now posted on archiveofourown.org. Here is a link to my profile page: Note: 2.21.13 I've heeded the suggestions that a few of you offered, and joined AO3 under the name LockedOwle. Falling Skies will be posted there in the next few days. I'll attempt to crosspost here as well, but if I continue to have trouble I'll confine my efforts there. Note: 2.18.13 Well, the haters won and got the one chapter I'd written taken down. The reason cited for removal: plagiarism. I can't post again until tomorrow. Not that I really want to anymore. Some people really know how to suck the fun out of a project. Note 2.15.13: To those of you that care enough to check my profile: There won't be any slash in Falling Skies. Let me make that clearer: THERE WON'T BE ANY SLASH IN FALLING SKIES! Honestly, I was just going to let you assholes shout at me through the internet, but then someone called me a cunt, and someone else threatened to ACTUALLY find out where I live and "show me what should be done to fag - lovers". Over this. It's a fanfiction people. The funniest thing: you're all wrong! My motivation to write the next chapter took a huge hit, so it'll come out whenever. But honestly? Some of you people really suck. Most of you don't (even the people who politely told me that they didn't want slash - those people I responded to so I could ease their worry) But some of you ... Geez! Finding Home Sequel: So cywsaphyre put the sequel to Finding Home up for adoption. Being the fan I am, I was all like "pick-me-pick-me!". To my surprise she actually did pick me, so now I have the honor of continuing where she left off. Now, it's a total work in progress, which means that I have 0 chapters pre-written. Cywsaphyre has pretty much given me free rein (squee!) but of course that means that I had to figure out where I wanted the story to go, and now I have to go about writing it. What does that mean? Well it means that chapters will be posted as they're finished. The world that cywsaphyre built has the potential to be pretty epic, and I'm going to do my best to give it justice. This means that I'm not going to rush, kids. Chapters will come when I deem them ready. Part 1 of the Human 'Verse. A pretty long one-shot prologue. WIP's: Enharmonic Interval: A Harry Potter/Avengers Crossover. Part 1 of the Team Dynamics Series. It used to be a one-shot prologue, but due to some constructive criticism -- very helpful. Thanks guys! -- I've decided to merge Enharmonic Interval and the next planned story in the series together. Falling Skies: The sequel to Finding Home adopted from cywsaphyre. Harry Potter/The Avengers Crossover. Taken down from fanfiction.net to end the death threats and insults. Can be found on AO3. Witness to Hidden Things: The sequel to Gods Be Gentle. Harry Potter/Supernatural Crossover. Part 2 of the Human 'Verse. Not abandoned, but kind of my pet project. I work on it when my HP/Avengers or my original work muse is being flighty. Future Projects: Untitled Avengers Fanfiction: A 5 to 1 Domestic Avengers Ensemble Fic. Won't start posting until it's fully written. Currently 2/6 chapters completed. May or may not be posted. I scavenged a lot of material for the Dynamics Series. I might come back to it one day. Untitled Human'Verse Sequels: These are my guilty pleasure. I dabble with them when my original work or Falling Skies gives me trouble. Thanks for visiting! -Owle |
