Chara is the unfortunate heir to a troublesome kingdom and runs away into the world of banished monsters to avoid their fate.

Frisk falls down into the Ruins, but when they try to speak to Flowey, he doesn't understand them. Now he's on a journey through the Underground with this kid, and sometimes they get this weird gleam in their eyes and it looks like they're talking to themself. He doesn't have time for this when there's a couple of human souls that need to be stolen.

Being a foster parent isn't easy, Toriel learns. Especially when this foster child sees everyone they meet as a monster and claims to have an imaginary friend who tells them to do things. But hey, kids have active imaginations, right?

Mettaton is tasked with babysitting the kids, and discovers that babysitting is harder than it looks (especially when one of those kids is a rabid houseplant and another is a reincarnated demon).

Frisk falls into the underground as a baby, and finds themself trapped in a battle for control over the one thing they were able to claim as their own: their body.

Things change when monsters come onto the surface.
