Author has written 7 stories for Harry Potter, Shakespeare, and Dead Poets Society.
p This is my page, but you already knew that. I'm not going to put my real name on or anything because I'm paranoid as all hell, so all of you can just call me thatdrncat. /p I have a varied taste in fan fiction, as with everything else in my range of taste, so don't be surprised to see more than just Harry Potter popping up here. Writing is my pastime, but I hope to someday make it my full-time profession. I do sometimes write stories and scenes for people, but few and far between and for a price. p I was born in Nottingham, England, but I currently live in Boston, MA, and have gone back and forth from England since I was very young. That's where I'm going to University, but I'm not quite yet sure which one I shall be going to. /p p My writing style changes with every story I write, so as to keep things interesting, but I do i love /i to write in first-person, as I find it's easier to get words on paper that way, especially when it's emotional. Outwardly, I'm very emotionless, but I'm always thinking. From the way that I write, people expect me to be completely extroverted, which is in fact the opposite of what is truthful in the matter. My humour is very English in the sense that it is dry, and I'm very cynical but not about anything in particular. Yet I do try to be polite, and I should be, because I've taken bloody etiquette classes to be so. (They're actually not that bad; fold your napkin, sit up straight, a seahorse could do it.) Also, I don't mess around with that hypocritical politically correct nonsense that Americans seemed to have altered their entire life to comply with, so if I don't skip around words like 'gay' or 'retarded', I respect your right to be offended. And though I write a lot of stories with homosexual material, I would never in my life go through with it. I can't handle seeing it. As is with most things of a sexual nature, I can read it, it can be described to me, I can write it, but seeing it disgusts me. Pornography makes me gag. It's a private thing, and I deviate between straight and asexual on a weekly basis. /p p People tell me that I write in a way that is far beyond my age level, and I look older than I actually am. This is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, I can get into clubs in the U.S. without even being asked for an I.D., but on the other hand I get hit on by people who are i far /i older than I am. It's quite disturbing. Most of my characters have bits and pieces of myself in them, and a few of them are actually based on real people- I hate doing that, though, almost as much as I hate original characters. One has to do it in fan fiction, I suppose, when there's a limited cast and more of a plot to be explored, but I really like to avoid them altogether. That's the fun of fan fiction, I think- doing what you can with the characters and the guidelines that are given to you. To me, some things can be bent and broken. Like surroundings- as long as they still have an original atmosphere about them that is similar to the novel/film/whatever, it's all good. But when a character's personality is entirely turned around so that they can be more vulnerable or dominant in a teen fantasy, it just drives me mad! That's just my opinion, of course- people can do what they like. I just try to avoid it. /p p Now, for b facts about myself /b . /p p b Favourite Books /B /p p 'The Secret History', Donna Tartt /p p 'Good Omens', Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachett /p p 'The Count of Monte Cristo', Alexandre Dumas /p p 'The Prince', Niccolò Machiavelli /p p 'Prince Ombra', Roderick MacLeish /p p 'Tom Jones, a Foundling', Henry Fielding /p p 'The Leopard', Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa /p p 'Candide', Voltaire /p p 'Dangerous Liaisons', Choderlos de Lanclos /p p The 'Harry Potter' Series, J.K. Nonetheless, when I'm not listening to my own playlist, my radio is set to the same classical station, 99.5 WCRB. If you live in New England, you'll be able to find it. /p p b Enjoy!
