When Miho Nishizumi left Kuromorimine, she expected that she would leave alone. That no one would follow her, because no one cared enough. She couldn't have been more wrong. The only question now, then, was why Erika Itsumi had come all this way after her, when her own family had left her.

If Maho felt well enough to stand, she would have been pacing restlessly around the medical tent, however her limbs were deadweight and her head spun uncomfortably. She couldn’t remember what had happened. She last thing she remembered was asking her company to split into two, and the rest is black - next thing she knew, she was sat in the mud, vomiting down herself.

While Ooarai managed to survive being closed down, another school did not. Monika Itsumi transferred to Ooarai after her school had closed, and she vowed to make sure Ooarai would not suffer the same fate. All the while, a bond with a childhood friend seems to grow stronger every day. He just happens to be a pilot.
