Everybody remember that really REALLY old LOTR fic I have? The Coming of the Throne? Ok, well some random reviewer KINDLY provided me this link of a site that evidently makes it its business to "review" fanfiction. Apparently bad, Mary-sue-ish fanfiction. Imagine my shock and annoyance when I got to this site and found it full of scathing insults, really really uncalled for and unfair remarks when the author herself could not DEFEND herself from these statements. Do these people not realize what fanfiction is? There is a such place as fanfiction.net so people can post both good and ridiculously bad fanfiction for their own enjoyment and for those who actually like their stuff. Fanfiction is where people can change around facts, screw with timelines, mess with characters, do anything they want because it's FANFICTION. It's where I "stole" Tolkien's Nimrodel song and changed a couple lines after CLEARLY marking what I did, apologies, and WHY. This seems to be a major point of contention for these people. I can't really blame these people for doing this, I myself acknowledge that the fic wasn't good but really now...might as well FINISH the fic just to spite them.
