I tend to give very harsh reviews and critiques. this is not because I dislike what I read, but because of my personal views on criticism. My opinion is that the fastest way to improve someones skill is to tell them what they are doing wrong, how to do those things right, and possibly tell them one or two things they did particularly well and should not be changed at all. Take the food network cooking competitions. If those foods are as delicious as they look, they would make the dinner of your life. However, the judges tell them, "well, these flavors are good but there's not so much synergy", or whatever, and as a result, those chefs become even better cooks. your writing is probably not at that level of skill, which means you have even more to gain from constructive criticism. In short, I am usually very, very mean.
