Reading fan fiction is certainly easier than writing it. Three chapters into my first attempt and I am stuck over which direction the story should take. My muse is flighty and finds it easier to come up with ideas for future stories than to come up with a solid plot for the first one. I refuse to publish the chapters I have done until I can decide where they are going to take me. I found my way to FanFiction by way of True Blood and the Southern Vampire Mysteries. I knew nothing about Eric Northman and Sookie Stackhouse until the day I rented Season One of True Blood from the local DVD rental. By the end of the first episode, I was hooked and wanted to see more. I bought all three of the first seasons then anxiously awaited the start of Season 4. I started reading the Southern Vampire Mysteries while I waited. When I finished Dead Reckoning, I started over with the first book and read them all again and again. When Season Four started I realized there was no waiting for the DVDs to come out and subscribed to HBO. Even with a new episode every Sunday night I wanted MORE! Once I read the first fan fiction on my favorite Viking I couldn't stop reading. I love the stories with Eric and Sookie, Eric and original characters, and Eric, Sookie, and Godric. Human stories just don't do it for me, I love my vampire Eric with his fangs, as he was intended to be. |
