AU. For years NYPD Detective Katniss Everdeen had lived only for her and her sister's survival. She had structured routines and avoided "feelings". But when a lively eighteen year old, a pair blue eyes and 'the Hunger Games case' manage to turn her life upside down; she finds that there are much better reasons to live for.

After many weeks, Katniss has been rescued from the Capitol and her family and Peeta are overjoyed. But it isn't long until Peeta realizes that not only has Katniss had her memories tampered with, but that she is strangely slipping away from reach- for a reason no one knows.

Just a little one-shot I wrote after watching Mockingjay. It's a much needed happy reunion between Peeta and Katniss after he is rescued from the Capitol.

Peeta was never hijacked by the capitol. Wounded, yes, but never hijacked. This is a short oneshot of how his reunion with Katniss would've been like if that was the case. (I'm just super depressed after seeing the movie. I knew it was going to happen...but my little heart still couldn't take it.)

I started writing this because I wasn't satisfied with the two-page epilogue that could be summed up as "Peeta and I are married, and we have two children, and there are no more Hunger Games." I wanted more story, and this is how I imagine it went. It's a little mushy, but it's what goes on in my silly, romantic brain.

After almost 10 years of marriage, Katniss finally decides to start trying for a baby with Peeta. When she discovers that she's pregnant, she doesn't want to break the news the ordinary way and comes up with a brilliant plan to let Peeta know that he's going to be a father. One-shot, please R&R.
