Mac was about thirty seconds away from blowing a gasket. The past two months have been piling up on Mac, and Taylor acts as an unexpected tipping point. But is it so unexpected to everyone? Post 2.08, picks up immediately after the episode ends.

Her last class with McAvoy is on a Wednesday, and that night, she sits at her computer, cracks her neck back and forth a few times, takes a deep breath and writes an email to him before she can change her mind. She hits send and blows out the breath, hard, then slams her laptop screen down and tells herself to forget about it. Forget it.

Mac knows she'll never be able to fix it. Maybe it isn't fixable. She still wants to make things better for him though. Because she's lonely, and he is too. And that's partly her fault. So she's going to be his friend, and she's going to try and help him be less lonely. She even has a plan! She just isn't going to tell him about it.

It's not planned. But then again she isn't sure what she expected when she agreed to eat those cookies. First on her list had been hearing the rest of his message, and when his request had been that she join him, possibly in the hope that neither of them would remember, she'd thought very little beyond what she wanted to know or what the consequences might reap.

Will and Mac are used to arguing. They're always arguing. But sometimes an argument isn't about what you think it is. Mild spoilers for S2 (promos and a stray comment in an interview)

"I'm supposed to hate her. That woman ripped my heart out of my chest and chopped it in half before running over it with a bulldozer and then tossing it into a shredder just to be sure there was nothing left. I had every right to be pissed as hell." He was allowed to be angry with her, he was just getting sick of it. He wanted to see if they could try something different.

Post The Greater Fool. Will comes home after the August 8th show and is quickly reminded he hasn't been taking the best care of himself lately. Will/Mac.
