My first favorite fanfics to write were Rogue and Gambit stories. I'm one of the original fanfic writers for that ship- since August 1993. I first posted them online in the spring of 1997. Those first ones aren't here but later ones are. I also wrote a Guy and Ice reunion story. (they were my favorite couple of the late 80's-early 90's DC's Justice League). I'm happy to see DC finally did bring her back and they had a cute reunion. Although, as usual in western superhero comics, they couldn't take it beyond that. If it had it would have been the hell that Marvel and DC always do since the mid 1990's- get together, then break up- as a pro writer superhero comic writer told me back in the later 90's- permanent relationships are no longer allowed to happen in the comics, by contract. (Eyeroll.) This is why I finally stopped buying superhero comics- except during the times they finally put my shipped couple back together. I basically ignore anything in the comics when they have them bedhopping with other characters. Ugh, I hate that soap opera mentality so much- it's ugly and sexist.

I have considered doing a old Titans Raven and Jericho story. They were a great couple, (but never got past the beginning stage before the comic's writing took a weird and nasty turn.) I was happy to see Jericho was finally brought back by Raven, but they didn't reference their romance connection beyond that, except in a very subtle way.

About nine years ago I became fascinated with the Naruto manga and especially Naruto and Sakura in the second part of the manga. My fanfic work "Rain or Shine" and their side stories- the one shot, "All Roads Lead to You", the miniseries "Shukuya" and the one shot sequel "Uzumaki Three" are about them. I'd vaguely had an interest in Doctor Who since I saw pictures of Tom Baker in the old Science-Fiction magazine Starlog in the mid-late 1970's but the show of that time didn't really capture my lasting interest, although the concept did, and I found Tom Baker's Doctor amusing and charming. A similar thing happened with the 1996 movie- and certainly Paul McGann was a handsome man, and I did like his sweet and funny and bit romantic 8th Doctor, but the horridly written story with the bizarre Master was so bad it just didn't click with me.

At the beginning of 2012 I started renting the Who revival series, and it finally clicked. Liked the Ninth Doctor but was kind of eh about the companion Rose (frankly I liked her mom Jackie a lot more!).

But it was River Song in season 5 and 6 with the 11th Doctor that made me a serious Who fan, and a serious Riverx11th shipper. River is probably close to my favorite fictional character in all the many fandoms I've been in over the years. So of course I had to start writing RiverxDoctor fanfics. :) "It Is Written In the Stars" operates from the foundation River saved herself in the Library- something I let readers know right away. My more recently started series operates from the other common theory- the library happens in River's far future. After she's seen the 12th and 13th Doctors (remember she says she knows all his faces...) with both Moffat's (and Alex Kingston, herself) outright saying that 11 is still not quite River's true Doctor, that will be 12 or perhaps even 13. (or both). "I Was Born Just To Get To You" comes from that theory. Most my River/Doctor fics play around with the "Library fix-it" concept, because to me, if River doesn't save herself, if the Doctor truly loves her more than anyone, he would find a way to get her out, not abandon her there.

I watched Once Upon Time casually from season 1- 3a. But 3b made me a shipper of Robin and Regina (Outlaw Queen). Unfortunately the show has declined since then, drastically in season 5. I no longer will watch the show, as I cannot stand to see character after character be destroyed. However, Regina, Robin and their family will remain beloved characters to me and have inspired a "fix-it fic"

I love getting reviews where readers are curious about some element of the story- I'd especially like to hear any questions you might have about "No Regrets" as it is a modern fairy tale. I'm following a fairy tale storytelling style far more authentically than OUAT has since 4a. 3b (minus the finale) was the closest OUAT ever came to the modern fairy tale style- to compare. 3b (minus the finale) has a bit of a mystical touch- especially Robin and Regina's story that is in the true modern fairy tales.

Marion Zimmer Bradley's "The Mists of Avalon" is perhaps the best of this subgenre. More lighthearted, but still great examples is Mercedes Lackey's "100 Kingdoms" series. One of the earliest in the modern fairy tale fantasy subgenre, and a long time favorite of mine, is Ursula K. LeGuin's "The Beginning Place." All have been a subtle influence on me and I highly recommend reading them if you want to write in this subgenre. I've read many good OUAT stories but haven't really seen any others that pull the characters more strongly into the modern fairy tale subgenre. I seem to be unique in feeling that pull to really put in the deeper elements of this subgenre. I think it's because I was so profoundly dyed in the subgenre when I was just begin to write my own stories.
