![]() "Sometimes the greatest pleasure comes from knowing what needs to be done and not dwelling on what could've been." "Why think of something that gives you pain when happiness is right at the door." "There is a void in your mind that holds a darkness, eager to pull you in, but you mustn't falter. Resist or else the darkness has ways to shutter the blinds shielding you from the dark." "I'm just a fleeting shadow. I pass now and again but nobody sees me. I'm just a fleeting shadow. I stumble and fall, fighting for a way out." "At the heart of the matter, I'm just a wounded soldier looking for someone to heal me." "When someone tells you to run, you don't hold back, you charge forward." "A blow can knock you off your feet and it can be hard to get back up sometimes when you've already fallen once before." "It's easier to fall back when you're the one that bleeds." "Don't let fear circle you, you circle the fear holding you hostage." "If darkness is all you see, light a candle and find your way out." "Home is security but outside is hell." "Love is happiness and desire is sin." Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Not my daughter, you bitch! You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don’t recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself plainly when you have need of him. Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. Indeed, your failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness. I say there are spots that don’t come off… Spots that never come off, d’you know what I mean. Nothing like a nighttime stroll to give you ideas. If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. I sometimes find, and I am sure you know the feeling, that I simply have too many thoughts and memories crammed into my mind…. At these times… I use the Pensieve. One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one’s mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one’s leisure. Curiosity is not a sin… But we should exercise caution with our curiosity… yes, indeed. In dreams, we enter a world that’s entirely our own. We did it, we bashed them, wee Potter’s the one, and Voldy’s gone moldy, so now let’s have fun! To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure. We must try not to sink beneath our anguish, Harry, but battle on. It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew – and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents – that there was all the difference in the world. It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more. Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here! Dumbledore to Harry as he struggles with grief and anger over Sirius’s death. People find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right. It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth. When you have seen as much of life as I have, you will not underestimate the power of obsessive love. It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself. You sort of start thinking anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve. There are some things you can’t share without ending up liking each other. Hearing voices no one else can hear isn’t a good sign, even in the wizarding world. It is our choices… that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can’t see where it keeps its brain. As much money and life as you could want! The two things most human beings would choose above all – the trouble is, humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things that are worst for them. There is no good or evil: only power and those too weak to seek it. The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many-layered thing. Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike. The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with caution. Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young. Harry, suffering like this proves you are still a man! This pain is part of being human … the fact that you can feel pain like this is your greatest strength. He chose the boy he thought most likely to be a danger to him … and notice this, Harry. He chose, not the pureblood (which according to his creed, is the only kind of wizard worth being or knowing), but the half-blood, like himself. He saw himself in you before he had ever seen you, and in marking you with that scar, he did not kill you, as he intended, but gave you powers, and a future, which have fitted you to escape him not once, but four times so far. Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it. An invisible barrier separated him from the rest of the world. He was – he had always been a marked man. Time is making fools of us again. “I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it’s the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.” – Jack Sparrow “Nobody move! I dropped me brain!” – Jack Sparrow “The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem. Do you understand?” – Jack Sparrow “You need to find yourself a girl, mate.” – Jack Sparrow “I’ve got a jar of dirt!” – Jack Sparrow “Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.” – Jack Sparrow “If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.” – Jack Sparrow “The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.” – Hector Barbossa “You are without a doubt the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.” (James Norrington) “But you have heard of me.” – Jack Sparrow “You cheated!” (Will Turner) “Pirate.” – Jack Sparrow “Not all treasure’s silver and gold, mate.” – Jack Sparrow “This is either madness, or brilliance.” (Will Turner) “It’s remarkable how often those two traits coincide.” – Jack S “I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request.” – Hector Barbossa & Elizabeth Swann “Savvy?” – Jack Sparrow “Too young to party, just odd enough to participate in federal investigations of serial murder. Story of my life.” “Your statistical track record for decision-making is somewhat concerning.” “Nothing hurts you unless you let it.” “Pretending something doesn't matter doesn't make it matter less.” “Luckily for us, I've never met a bad idea I did not immediately embrace like the dearest of friends.” “You know that just because you ignore something, that doesn't make it go away.” “Dance it off.” “Home isn't a place. Home is the people who love you most, the people who will always love you, forever and ever, no matter what.” “Sloane slipped an arm around my waist. "There are fourteen varieties of hugs," she said. "This is one of them.” “You feel stupid. Doesn't mean you are.” "It's not the bad memories that tear a person apart. It's the good ones.” “When the odds are bad, you change the rules.” “Sterling turned to Michael. I expected her to ask him something, but instead she just held out her hand. "Keys." “None of us had normal childhoods," Sloane said quietly. "If we had, we wouldn't be Naturals.” “People fail to realize that horror isn’t just monsters and death. Sometimes, it’s learning to accept the darkness of human nature.” “When we force something to fit where it doesn't belong, it breaks. When surrounded by people who can't appreciate our beauty, humans essentially do the same.” ~O~ |
