![]() Well, I finally finished my first novel. It's been a long year of planning, writing, proofing and polishing, but I'm satisfied with the end result. 185 pages, 83,000 words and all the characterization, suspenseful plotting and action I could reasonably fit. I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing this feat. Now comes the hard part: marketing it. Self-publication is out of the question because only close friends and family will ever see it, so I need to find an agent and convince them that my work is worth putting in stores. I know it will be difficult and may take years, but I do not care. I see now that the world of the nine to five rat-race is not for me. I need to create, entertain and educate the masses, just like my heroes do. I don't care how long it takes or how hard I'll have to push. I will publish this novel and prove to my critics that I have what it takes. Wish me luck. Oh, by the way, I had to delete all my old stories here. That way, we won't have any "conflicts of interest" happening around town. Sorry; I'm sure you would've enjoyed them. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX A lot of people have been asking me about the Literate Union, due to my challenging of the Author Alliance years ago. I have one question: Do these guys have anything better to do with their time? Really, spending hours searching through a website and clicking the report button, or creating a program that does it automatically? Are their lives really so bland that this is the only way they can succeed at something? Take Lord Kelvin. This guy has been doing this for six years. Six years! In the past six years, I've earned my Masters Degree in PoliSci, become a YouTube political pundit, got my own apartment and a cozy government job and I'm almost done with my book, and all this guy does is sit around and report stories on the Internet. Wow, what a productive and inspirational use of one's youth! Even GTAjake grew out of this. I only hope he grew out of his depressing nihilism too. And yes, I like writing my book. Fanfiction was nice for fun and practice, but now I've advanced to original fiction. I can take my time, I don't have to follow strict, unnecessary regulations, I don't have to deal with gangs of trolls, I get criticism from reliable sources and, if I'm lucky, I may even get published and make a profit. Hell, even if it gathers dust in the bargain bin, at least I accomplished more than any troll who needs to delete fiction on the Internet to feel important, so pucker up, and kiss my liberated ass! |
