Character Profiles: Liam O'Connor: Male, nervous, wants courage and to be respected. Why does he want this? Why does he have this insecurity? His father failed to protect his family from danger and poverty, was weak, and bailed ship when he was just discovering puberty, just joining Hogwarts. He has to endure his mother’s suffering, raising his two three-year-old brothers alone while he is off at school. Now he is in his seventh year, unsure of when he will learn to protect those he cares about with the courage which his father lacked. He looks up to Harry Potter, who was now an accomplished Auror; facing the worst of all evils without so much as a trembling hand. He collects wizard cards of all of the bravest and most powerful men in history. His eyes are a light mossy green, his hair dark brown, his bangs falling in waves to his cheekbones. He prefers to wear light blues, never bold enough to wear red. His arms are well-defined, same with his leg muscles, due to his desparate attempts to be strong and brave. He wears muggle clothes, mostly Levis and tee shirts, because his father’s wizarding ancestory makes him angry at the entire wizarding world. He is enraged at the school itself for ripping him away from his mother, who he feels he is supposed to protect. Through his six previous years at school, he has been a slacker, not seeing his magic as something to be interested in or something worth mastering, associating it with being weak and lazy and easy, just like the life of his father; the man who ran away in fear from people who loved and relied on him. His name is Liam O’Connor, of Irish descent. He is a reader of books and a quiet friend of anyone who doesn’t find his mute company a bother. He has intellectual interests, mostly in muggle mechanisms, as he is disenchanted with magic, pardon the pun. His most common hide out is the library, reading up and hiding from the world. He wants to assert himself and be one of the popular jocks who are the center of attention and seem to be filled with the strength that he longs to possess, but he is too afraid to step up and runs away into his books, readying himself for danger by reading about others facing danger through the safety of his books.
