Hi, there. I'm Tristan Cole, Purple Ranger. You may have seen some of my reviews around -- I'm the one who tries to politely point out things that are wrong with a story. At times, I tend to go a little overboard, but, mostly, I'm pretty reasonable when dealing with stories.

However, there's been a recent trend in reviews that I've noticed recently -- not so much the trend itself, but a particular group of 'associates' who are going around and getting upset at people who tell it like it is. I'm not blunt in my reviews. Some other reviewers -- such as the infamous Cloaked Fox -- are. Y'know what? They have every right to be blunt. See, they didn't start out that way. They were polite at first. (Although not necessarily under the same name.) What happened? They got bitched out for 'flaming' when all they were trying to do was help another author improve -- to share their experience, since they've already gone through a good deal of the same stuff.

So, y'know what? Suck it up, buttercup. Not everyone's going to like everything that someone has to write. Some of us hold other people to something called standards. I'm a little gentler than others -- not in my standards, by any means, but in how I go about discussing how something falls short of them. The thing that you have to realise is that our standards make for better writing.
