![]() Author has written 7 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Fablehaven, Harry Potter, and Chronicles of Narnia. Hello, everyone! Seeing as this is, of course, my profile page and you've clicked on it, you may be expected to learn some things about me. Unless you clicked on accident, in which case, turn back!!! Nothing interesting here. :P I'm Eraleigh Aminah, as of January 15, 2010. I used to be Above Insanity, and before that I was Sun-Kissed Demigod. So, yeah, name has changed. I'm a female, and I tend to be a little fan-girlish (unfortunately). I like writing, watching movies, singing, and acting. Ideally, I'd like to act and direct and be a cinematographer in the future, but that's unlikely due to the lack of realism to that dream. And the fact that I'm terrified of telling my parents I'd like to do that... Anyways, not the point. Below, I basically talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Chronicles of Narnia, my stories, my ideas, and The Chronicles of Narnia some more. Enjoy, if you really have nothing else to do! Top 15 All-Time Favorite Characters (in no particular order) 1. Edmund Pevensie 2. Peter Pevensie 3. Lucy Pevensie 4. Zuko 5. Azula 6. Toph Bei Fong 7. Sokka 8. Aang 9. Jason Grace 10. Nico di Angelo 11. Percy Jackson 12. Sirius Black 13. Leo Valdez 14. Peeta Mellark 15. Katniss Everdeen Avatar: The Last Airbender I'm just going to start by saying that this show has been my favorite on television since I was seven. Glee almost rivals it, but I'm such a child at heart that this show has to win. I love the characters, storyline, Asian influence, and energy the story has. It's actually a very funny show at times, but has serious depth and characterization. The characters are truly wonderful. Aang is probably one of my favorite protagonists/heroes of all time. He's a bit of a role model for me, along with Toph. I'm vegetarian as well and I sometimes think "What Would Aang Do?" when trying to figure out a problem I'm struggling with. I love Aang for being such a young person with such strong ethics, and that he struggles so much with coming to terms with all of the numerous challenges in his life. The best thing is that he still has fun and enjoys life and friends, and values them so much. The funny thing is that Aang isn't even my favorite character from the series. I love all of the main characters, but I am especially attached to Zuko and Toph. Zuko because he endures so much and is a better person for it. I find his own personal journey as compelling as Aang's. It's really an incredible tale (even if it isn't real). Toph is just a really hard-ass, strong character that I admire for being so resilient (*doesn't care that the stories are fictional*). The best thing is that you see some amazing vulnerabilities that I think were handled very delicately. Her blindness and resulting insecurities are very fascinating. Azula is also just a deliciously evil character; I find her ridiculously fun. The plot that spans the entire series is really cool. I've always loved the Avatar universe for being so creative. Props to the creators. The Asian and Inuit influences have always intrigued me, ever since I first began watching. I'm always a fan of different cultures, and I like learning about them. They way everything is incorporated into the story is awesome. I love all of the imagery. Omashu, the Northern Water Tribe, and Ba Sing Se are my favorite places, although I do think that the Air Temples are pretty cool as well. I like how the different nations all have their own cultures and traditions that is shown very clearly in the show. I think it adds a lot of texture. Finally, I just love the energy in Avatar. Seriously, everything is always in motion, but you never feel left behind. You feel entirely connected with everything, and I think that's because the energy and emotion in the story. It's really a fantastic show with an incredible plot, characters, and life. The movie may have been kinda bad, but the show was great. Plus, the soundtrack was superb. All Things The Chronicles of Narnia First of all, a word on Edmund Pevensie. I love Edmund Pevensie. I find him very easily to relate with (on many levels) and realistic. Because of his amazing character development, in which he goes from being a nasty, confused bully to a well-adjusting, loving, and fair King of Narnia, we can all aspire to be more like him. He is the type of person/character that we should all look up to for fixing his faults and we should all try to be a little more like him. I think we can all learn from Edmund. Plus, Skandar Keynes could not be any more attractive or hilarious. Just saying. Really, Skandar Keynes' portrayal of Edmund is truly fantastic, I think. That is not to say I don't love the other Pevensies, Caspian, Eustace, Jill, Cor, Corin, Aravis, Digory Kirke, or Polly Plummer. Actually, I do love them. I mean, I have trouble relating to Eustace because most everything he says is very scientific and in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader he lacked pretty much any redeeming qualities for the first half of the book, but he gets better. Jill was a crybaby. They get better. I think they're the type of characters that we can all hold dear to our hearts. In all honesty, and don't shoot me for this, I might love the movies more than the books. The books leave so much undetailed so we can imagine most of it, but the movies capture exactly how I imagined the events of the books would look and feel like. There are a few times where I feel like the characters aren't entirely consistent with their personalities, but I think that the producers and directors were trying to make them more developed. Which is alright. Susan sort of lacked a personality a bit in the books and Peter had so much more character to be explored. And all in all, Lucy had an accurate personality and Edmund was just made about ten times cooler. Which is totally alright. I also love the soundtracks to the movies. I use them to help me write, because the are so inspirational. Sometimes I cry because the feeling from them is so profound and real. I love Andrew Adamson (I think he's awesome), and all of the cast and crew seems totally awesome from the DVD extras. Skandar Keynes' Blonde Cam and the Prince Caspian bloopers are my favorites. Because they're really funny. And awesome. But I really love all of the actors they have chosen. I think everyone will agree with me when I say that there is no way they could possibly have cast any better. William Moseley is a protective older brother; Anna Popplewell is a well-adjusting, caring older sister; Skandar Keynes is a cheeky, loyal, wonderful young king (all things Edmund); and Georgie Henley is just...100% Lucy. Ben Barnes is absolutely charming and a wonderful actor (as is Will Poulter, who also seems like the sweetest guy ever). I can't wait to see who is cast as Jill, in the event that they make The Silver Chair, which I hope they do. Now... Narnian Ages: According to Lewis, when the Pevensies first entered Narnia they were 13 (Peter), 12 (Susan), 10 (Edmund), and 8 (Lucy). However, he also said that Edmund and Lucy were only one year apart. Contradiction. I go along with Lewis' ideas, but I would just like to point out for anyone who feels like their ages should have been different that Lewis never was very specific as to what they were. And also, Caspian is Peter's age, everyone. Thank you. Narnian Appearances: I go with the movie appearances. I can't picture them otherwise. I don't mind when people have Peter, Susan, and (possibly) Edmund as dark-haired and Lucy (or maybe Edmund as well) as golden-haired, though. Lewis stated once that Edmund was supposed to be ash-blonde and the only blond in the family, but he also said Lucy was "gay and golden-haired", so I find the movie appearances easier to go along with. Golden Age: I like to imagine the Golden Age could be however long I would like it to be, because it is an entire Age. Shouldn't that be longer than fifteen years? I just sort of feel like the Pevensies got robbed of time. Although, perhaps not as badly as Eustace and Jill. Although they did all go to Aslan's Country in the end, which I suppose would be better than life anyways, wouldn't it? But that's not the point. I like to imagine what could have happened, and so many things come to mind. And it feels like they should have gotten into their thirties. Observances: I was thinking about pairings. And I realized that Corin/Lucy isn't entirely AU. In LWW, it says that "all the princes in those parts desired her for their wife" or something like that about Lucy. Lewis probably wasn't talking about Corin, but I was thinking that Archenland was close to Narnia, so it was possible. Just saying. I'd really like to find out what age Cor, Corin, and Aravis were in HHB. I have a love and hate relationship with the vagueness Lewis has in regard to details. Pairings: I support these pairings as long as they are well-written and in character: Eustace/Jill, Corin/Lucy, Cor/Aravis, Susan/Caspian, Peter/OC, Edmund/OC, Susan/OC, Lucy/OC, Lucy/Caspian, Lucy/Peridan, Susan/Peridan, and Caspian/Ramandu's Daughter (Lilliandil). Basically, every pairing that isn't slash or incest in the fandom. I actually like realistic and well-developed OCs quite a lot as well. One last thing: I, for some reason, hate the "Just Edmund/just Edmund" analogy. I find it overused. I also hate when any of the Pevensies, especially Susan, are OOC. It really frustrates me when people think Susan is obsessed with fashion and marriage while she is a queen. So, I guess that's two things. I just really can't stand how people always make Susan the bad guy. Erm...that's all. I needed to get that out. My Stories In Progress Hero - Chronicles of Narnia. Movie-verse. AU. During the Night Raid sequence, Peter sacrifices himself to save his troops. Of course, then it's up to Edmund to deal with the consequences and try to save his brother. The Rules of Rivals - Harry Potter. New-gen. James Sirius Potter and Phoebe Erickson have always been bitter rivals and hated each other. When fate pushes them together, will they be able to survive together? -- On hiatus. I lost all the chapters I wrote, and I have no inspiration to re-write them. Finished or Discontinued Silly Valentines, Stupid Queens, and Big Brothers - Chronicles of Narnia. Oneshot. Susan is upset when she doesn't get a Valentine from the person she wants it from the most. Peter's big brother instincts don't allow him to leave her alone. Fin. The War of Olympus - Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Kylie Wolf just met Nico di Angelo. Now she's on a quest with him and five other kids to try to save the world from the Giants. Unfortunately, she doesn't really know what she's doing. -- Discontinued. I was really young when writing this, so I never really had a plot. The Champion - Fablehaven. Slightly AU. Detailing the account of Seth's quest for the Singing Sisters and how it led him and his companions on a whirlwind adventure through Europe. --Discontinued. My sister was writing this with me, but she dropped out. Trouble mapping out plot. True Presents - Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Oneshot. Nico di Angelo never got a gift at the end of The Last Olympian. Or so he thought. Fin. Everything Changes in Just One Month - Fablehaven. Oneshot. Warren/Vanessa. How Warren and Vanessa finally, after far too long, decide to actually get over their pride and try dating each other. Fin. A Word on Plans for Stories Hero - Chronicles of Narnia. This story came to my mind and I just needed to do it. I love brotherfics because they are so beautiful and Edmund and Peter interaction is so sweet. I really hope for this story that I can improve the depth of my writing and get better at action sequences. And I really want to analyze the Pevensies and Caspian's characters to get to know them better and gain a deeper understanding of them. I think that the best writers understand their characters well and aren't too partial to any one because then it would show in their writing and it wouldn't be nearly as good. So, I'm hoping to become better with this story. Acceptance - Chronicles of Narnia. Most likely a three or four shot. This is a story that I want to do really badly, partly as a character analysis and partly to get better at writing emotional scenes. It's about Edmund and Peter and Susan and Lucy (more about E. and P., though) in the couple weeks after the Battle of Beruna but before the coronation. No, we never learned exactly how long the wait between was, but I imagine it would be a week or two for preparations and so people could make the journey over. Could even be a months, really. Anyways, that's not the point. It explores Edmund's acceptance of himself and his family's acceptance of him. Because even though they forgave him, I still think there are some hurt feelings in there that would need to be worked out. Firsts - Chronicles of Narnia. Oneshot. Brother-fic. The first time Edmund smiles, Peter smiles. The first time he laughs, Peter laughs. The first time he trusts, Peter weeps. After the damage of the White Witch, every first for Edmund is another step forward. Can't get rid of the idea. Mercy - Chronicles of Narnia. Oneshot. For as long as he could remember, Peter has been the older brother. That means a certain responsibility. It means he would give anything, do anything, to protect his younger siblings. But sometimes, one has to learn mercy and patience when loved ones are threatened. Because Peter is always very intent on his siblings' safety, which is sweet, but I think he would most likely have to learn how to be a little more merciful as High King to those who threatened his siblings. Impossible - Chronicles of Narnia. Oneshot. Movie-verse. Eustace was a pain, but Edmund had never - not actually - wished him dead. Edmund was supposed to watch out for his little cousin, because, as annoying as he was, he was family. And it was just impossible for him to be dead. In the movie, Edmund and Caspian find Eustace's clothes and think he's dead. I wanted to explore Edmund's sense of guilt and sadness in that scene. The Ones We Love - Chronicles of Narnia. Sixshot. Family-fic for the Pevensies. Takes place in the earlier days of the Golden Age. A series of oneshots on each of the relationships between the Pevensies, and how close they all are. It'll most likely be very fluffy and hopefully very cute. Includes Peter and Susan, Susan and Edmund, Edmund and Lucy, Lucy and Peter, Peter and Edmund, and Susan and Lucy. Ancient History - Chronicles of Narnia. Oneshot. Takes place after Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace come back from Narnia in the VotDT. Edmund gives Eustace a short history lesson and teaches him how to use a sword properly. Because I want to get to know Eustace better. Lucy, Are You There? - Chronicles of Narnia. Multi-chap. Came to me while watching the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. What would happen if Lucy were transported into a world where she didn't exist? Or wasn't supposed to, anyways. Nobody recognizes her, or knows who she is, not even her own siblings. How will she get back? And why was she brought there in the first place? I really want to try to get into Lucy's head with this. I also want to try to discover the line between her dependence on Aslan and her siblings and her independence that she has. Of Brothers - Chronicles of Narnia. Oneshot. Edmund is lucky. He's lucky because he has three brothers, and he shares a close bond with all of them. With Peter, he is the younger brother. With Caspian, he is an equal, as if they are both middle children. With Eustace, he is the older, responsible brother. I really hope to establish the bonds Edmund has with them all, and to better understand them myself, for future stories. Please don't misinterpret the order to mean anything. It's just that Peter's the High King, Edmund and Caspian are both kings under him, and Eustace never became a king (until they died, but that's kind of besides the point). Drums of War - (Tentative title). Percy Jackson and the Olympians/The Heroes of Olympus series. I've yet to find a really well-written, more serious take on The Son of Neptune and the future of the Percy Jackson series. This is how I think of it, only making everything a little less silly. When Percy finds himself in a Roman camp for half-bloods, he feels that something is wrong. And it's not just that he can't remember anything. He begins to climb the ranks in his new camp with his strange, unexpected skills. But it's all wrong. When he starts to have mysterious dreams telling of terrible things, he knows it's his destiny to stop it. Meanwhile, Annabeth and Piper set out on a quest to retrieve information about the camp's whereabouts as Jason goes on a mission for Hera and Leo begins his masterful creation of the Argo II. Only the Beginning of the Adventure - (Tentative title). Title from the soundtrack. Chronicles of Narnia. This is a story that I've planned out and started writing. It's been in my head for ages now. But I probably won't publish the first chapter until after "Hero" for various reasons. Names and details and outcomes and everything keep shifting in my mind, so that, while it's the same story, many things are iffy. But this is basically an Edmund/OC fic in which I attempt to focus as much on action and the brotherly relationship and the romance. Which may be somewhat impossible. I want to try to write a story that is able to create new relationships in Edmund's life while still focusing on the close bonds with his family. Basically, Calormen is threatening war on Archenland, so Peter goes off to help. While he's gone, Edmund discovers an army of Fell Beasts is gathering, so he leaves to investigate what is happening. Also, Damien, son of the Governor of the Seven Isles, arrives at Cair Paravel in his training to be a Knight of Narnia, and becomes close to Lucy. When Edmund raids the Fell Beasts' camp, he discovers a girl named Kyra, the daughter of a sailor searching for her father. While war becomes inevitable on all fronts, they all discover the real threat behind the evilness surrounding them. Erm...yeah. There's a lot more brother bonding in there, heartbreak, romance, strife, revenge, twists, and other stuff that I didn't talk about. I would like to say, however, that Susan will have a larger part than it seems. I'm trying to figure out how to fit her in, though. She's a great character, and I want to get to know her better. I want to try to get a lot packed into this story, and hopefully (a long while from now) there will be a sequel. If so, Susan would have a larger part in those stories, if everything goes according to plan. Suspian is a bit of an iffy thing at this point, but it could give me a lot to go off. I'm hoping to actually get quite a bit of romance in there. Because I like trying to find a balance between Pevensie love and romance for Narnia stories. I'm also hoping to maybe have a little bit of Cor, Corin, and Aravis, so we shall see how that works out, yes? Yeah, well, this is getting far to long, so I shall stop now. But please tell me if you'd be interested in any stories or something else via PM. I'd love to hear from you. But I don't, I swear! When I'm writing, generally I like listening to just instrumental, because words tend to distract me. The Script seems to be an exception. They're pretty much my favorite band. Mumford and Sons and Fleetwood Mac are really cool too. My music tastes aren't always soundtracks, but I love the songs from the soundtracks above (which are all amazing). They're great inspiration for writing. Epic stuff, I'm telling you. Some Personal Views Alright, so I'm going to state this very clearly so nobody who has these things in their stories asks me to read them or something like that (although I doubt that would happen). I don't read stories with slash or incest. I don't read slash due to personal preference. I have no problem with homosexuality in general, and often I support those that are if that's who they really are. I just don't like to read about it. I don't read incest because I think it is plain wrong. Honestly, it's quite disgusting. I don't understand why people write it. If you are so desperate for romance, it's alright to make up an OC. There is no problem with that (unless that OC happens to be a Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu). I just dislike how people feel a need to pair up siblings to get romance in a story. If you really want romance with the actual character, write a Eustace/Jill story or something. I find it rather depressing that this has to apply so explicitly to the CoN fandom. A Few (Many) Last Words I really just enjoy reading, and that's why I'm always on. I dabble in the art of writing, and hopefully I'm getting a bit better at it. I wish I could be more like some of the amazing writers on this site, but for now, all I can do is wish and try to get better. If you actually like my stories, thank you so so so so much for giving them a chance. If you've ever reviewed, favorited, or alerted any of my stories, you're awesome. Thank you. I'm sorry if I've discontinued a story you liked. I've had trouble being faithful to my stories. I'm really determined to get Hero out, though. So hopefully that will get done. I have such great inspiration for The Chronicles of Narnia right now, if you hadn't noticed. ;) Anyways, thanks for being such awesome people! You're wonderful! And if you are still reading this profile, you're probably wasting your time. All I'm really doing is ranting about The Chronicles of Narnia, so there's nothing too interesting. If you've read all of this, thank you. Feel free to PM me or maybe read a story and drop a review at any time. Bye! --Eraleigh Aminah |
