![]() Author has written 2 stories for Mass Effect, Metroid, and Worm. Name: PrehistoricEchoes Age: [REDACTED] Species: Human Sex: Male Height: 6' 01" Weight: 140lbs G'day, I'm Prehistoric Echoes, a budding writer and fan of many things, but primarily Bionicle, Mass Effect, Gundam 00, and (of course) STAR WARS. Not big on TV, though, although Transformers Prime, Spectacular Spider Man, and the old 2002 animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars come to mind. When it comes to literature, I'm definitely a fan of Tolkien, Eric Nylund, Greg Farshtey, and Timothy Zahn (been a while since I've read anything by him, though...). Basically, I'm weird, and I'm proud of it. Anyway, I hope to write some half decent stories that will--with luck--become decent additions to the site. Fanfiction often seems to get a bad reputation, it seems, being the pariah of literature and the epitome of nerdom. I kind of view it in a different light. I see fanfiction as a place where budding authors can test their skills by using already tried and proven characters in new and interesting ways, or simply creating new stories of their own while using pre-crafted universes, allowing them to slowly build up their skills so that when they do create an original story, it could be far better than it would have been if it was published without practice. Of course, original stories will always be of higher caliber critically, fanfiction still should hold its own place in the universe of mediums. Sadly, misuse of this form of storytelling coupled with a fairly large array of "bad apple" stories have really spoiled the bunch for a lot of people... And, of course, Sturgeon's Law will always apply. Current Stories: Corrupt Elements: A Mass Effect / Metroid canon weld where bits of the Metroid universe have been transplanted into the Mass Effect one. Lots of extrapolations from there on out, primarily involving the uses of phazon in the ME world. |
