A Cold Heart

Winters chill, softly whispering tales of the summer;
a life fall had taken seemingly only moments before
Icy fingers plucked the last of faint laughter... leaving
nothing but decay and lingering despair.

Darkness now fills my heart not only in the hidden
places in my subconcious, but now also the fading grey
outlines of my waking thoughts, though the loss will be
replaced, this blackened shroud will forever be part of me.

Relentless and cruel a heart such as this, a moment to
destroy love, life and all joy, draining like a crimson
river over a windswept land so beautiful and now so cold.

Time is a thief, stealing the pain and all love as
it changes us not only in the mirror, but in our souls.
It takes and takes until at last, there is nothing left
for us to lose, and gone are the cares, the hate and all
light, reaching for what we once were and can never be again.

In some form of mercy life releases us and we are finally home
