After discovering Sunny Town and its dark secret, Apple Bloom flees with zombies in hot pursuit. One of the Sunny Towners try to protect her and allow her escape. Apparently, it isn't enough. Twilight comes to the rescue, only to see poor Apple Bloom face death at the hooves of her attackers. Apple Bloom becomes one of them, and is now forced to live as one of the Blanks.

Sombra faked his death, and freed his Umbrum army. He also mistook Twilight for Radiant Hope, the one pony he ever loved, who abandoned him when he needed her most. When Twilight surrenders herself to save Equestria from an unwinnable war, Sombra discovers the truth, and gains a 'guest' against whom he has no desire for revenge, and more in common than either first thought.

Still trying to find her place in the world Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria in order to right the wrongs she committed there, however she finds it difficult to adjust back to the Pony lifestyle after being gone for so long. Then suddenly a masked villain appears and captures Twilight, forcing Sunset Shimmer to lead the gang in order to save her as well as face her original sin.
