I haven't updated my profile in ages...

To be honest, my story suffered the same neglect. Just when I was about to finish, I stopped.

I guess I had a hard time saying farewell to my characters, for one. On the other hand, there were some things that apparently wanted to be told, and that my last chapter (which had been written and waiting patiently for an upload that never came), had left out.

So, when the itch for writing them became too unbearable, I gave in and started to rewrite the end.

Writing has been one of the most peculiar experiences I've ever had. And I'm glad I've given it a try.

The story started as a Merlin fan-fiction, more exactly at the end of Season Two. But after that, it took on its own spin and went off a very different path.

And at some point I realized I was actually writing my own version of the rise of Camelot.

That's why is so long.

Though it's the story of a romance too, I also realized that after a while, more important things kept surfacing.

And I became more interested in the personal journey of the characters and their self-discovery, than the romance itself.

So, if you are looking for a pure Merlin fan-fiction, this story might not be for you.

If you are looking for a full blown romance, then this story might not be for you either.

But if you are looking for a tale of what could have gotten lost in the legend of Camelot that we know today, then you might enjoy it.

First entry of 2012: March

The story is almost over and I'm very excited.

It's been a great journey and I had lots of fun.
I think I've mentioned already that this has been the only story I have ever got the guts to publish anywhere, and the response has been overwhelming. So, thank you.

About my story:

I should warn you, this is a long story. It wasn't necessarily intended like that, but as things progressed and the plot developed, it came out longer (by far) than the regular stories on the site.

Thus, if novel-like lengths are not your cup of tea, you should not read it :-)

It is set right after Season 2 of the TV show. The recognizable characters belong to BBC, the rest are my own.

I began to write The One True Queen inspired by the BBC TV series in what relates to the youth of Arthur (being a Prince), and the paradoxical fact that although being born out of magic, magic itself was forbidden in Camelot. Plus I also found his relationship with a young Merlin very entertaining.
Since the series itself took a lot of liberties with the legend, I figured… why not?

I’ve always loved the legend of King Arthur and Camelot and everything it represented in terms of honor, comradeship, courage and rightfulness…
That’s probably why it never set well with me the lurid love triangle between a mighty King, a supposedly loving Queen and a trusted friend (the First Knight no less…)

Somehow I’ve always refused to believe the betrayal and hoped that it was only due to the sensationalism of the old storytellers, who needed to sell their services after all (some things have changed very little throughout times in this world).

And so I began to compose my own version of the legend and how Arthur became the famous King.

The only problem was that, in doing so, my initial idea of a mid-length story grew into an almost full blown-up novel of sorts.

For those wondering about its length… That’s the reason.
The story tells a full tale of self-discovery, love, friendship and trust…

Or so I hope ;-)

PS: I've also found out something else I like: the interaction between readers and writers. Through this forum and my little story, I've had the opportunity to get to know and exchange correspondence with truly wonderful people :-) :-)
