Cardinal, Kayaba Akihiko's masterful program, ends up taking control of the system, and it makes a decision on how best to follow its protocols. How will the world and players handle the idea that Sword Art Online is no longer a game, but a complete reality? Can the players even still call themselves human let alone a Japanese citizen?

My take on what could happen for the rest of the Akai family to find out their eldest son is alive. I changed some things in the story so I could include Amuro and Mary, but it mostly follows a similar format to the Scarlet chapters in the manga.

When Keith stowed aboard a passing cargo transport, he expected to sneak off on some backwater colony to disappear into the wilds of space. What he didn't expect was finding a giant red lion-ship, that same ship turning out to be sentient, and everything that followed. (Featuring Keith being his usual prickly self, adventures in vents, and general misadventures all around.) AU.

After Keith's encounter Thace, questions remain and he's not certain he wants the answers to them. However, after Pidge's request to locate the rebels, the two of them seek out the resistance with both of them not certain what they will find out. (Part 2 of What If The Storm Ends?)
