A girl, teenaged it looks, steps out onto the wooden stage. A bit drab, but kind looking, she smiles and pulls down her gray, fitted sweatshirt in nervousness. “I am author number 108919, currently registered underneath the Alias ‘FireFinch.’ Normally I’d just leave you guys to guess about who I am, but I decided not to. Currently, I am obsessed with Ranma ½, but I probably won’t write it anytime soon. I mostly write Digimon—which I still enjoy in secrecy—Card Captor Sakura, XMen: Evolution, fairy tale parodies and Harry Potter, whose fandom I have always been a part of, but whose fanfiction I have only just been introduced to. I’m not a new author, but am new to Fanfiction.net and am certainly new to having others read my stories and comment—or not comment—on them. “I prefer my water cold,” she continues, “my pancakes covered in blueberries and my brownies cooked, thank you. I have always loved the fire element, but have become quite partial to the wind element, which reflects in my Alias: Fire—which explains itself, and Finch—a bird. An actual Fire Finch is an African bird to anyone who might know and would like to comment, or to anyone else who might want to know. I’m not the tallest person you’ve met I imagine, but I fancy myself close to Ron, with bright red fiery hair, cursed freckles, a tendency to blush excessively, blue eyes and an almost-unhealthy addiction to Quidditch…even though I am a muggle. “My preferences change with the days, but my current favorite songs are ‘Sweetness' by Jimmy Eat World, a new band I discovered that really should be checked out, and "Penelope" by Pinback, whichI reccomend whole heartedly! I’m feeling like greenish blue today; I also am quite partial to Enya. My favorite animal this week is the hawk and my favorite undiscovered story this week is Angels, Demons and the End of the World by The Gatekeeper who you can (finally!) e-mail at PhoenixAndromeda@aol.com.” She then proceeds to give ashes the "V" for victory and waves goodbye to everyone else, stepping off of the old stage and motioning to the next author, who is impatient, to come up to give their speech. |
