To My Dear Readers...: Updated: November 10, 2005 Okay, so I've been futilely looking to see if there was some way to directly respond to your reviews, but I guess not. ~_~ I didn't want to clog up your e-mail inboxes, anyway, so I figured this would be the most effective solution. First things first: thank you for all the wonderful comments. I'm glad you like the story so far -- and, in my opinion, it only gets better. ;) There are some things that need to be said, though.

First off, before you go getting your hopes up and imagining me to be some sort of superhuman, I should tell you that I have quite a few of these chapters written up in advance. ;) As of this date, I have written eight chapters, and am currently working on chapter 9. "So why didn't you post them all at once," you may wonder. Because I wanted to ease you into it, that's why. ;) Besides, I didn't want to give you eight chapters in one day and then make you wait a week for chapter 9. That's not a nice thing to do, assuming you like the story, anyway. :p

Okay, so... what else? Alright, as for characters... well, as you can see, the story takes place 1,000 years after ToS, so a LOT of the main characters are... well... dead. ~_~;; Of course, Genis is in it, as you already know, and... well... I won't spoil it for you, but he may or may not be the only one. In case you're wondering WHY I haven't included Lloyd/Colette/Kratos/Yuan/etc yet, I'll tell you: if I start including all those characters, I'm afraid the story will shift away from my own. It will almost have to. It would be... goodness... unlawful to have some of those characters sitting in the background doing nothing. ;) Also, I think it would be a little bland, to be honest. Always nice to have a new cast of faces to get behind, you know? Besides, I've always LOVED designing characters. But, don't despair: you may see some more familiar faces yet. But you didn't hear it from me. .

Dialogue: I'm actually a bit surprised people are asking me for more dialogue. To be honest, I was worried that I had included too much dialogue at the cost of description and action. But hey, if there's room for more blabbering on the part of my characters, I'll do my best to oblige you. ~_~ However, please do remember that I have written the first eight chapters already, and I probably won't be going through them and adding dialogue or anything like that. ;) I basically just give them a once-over for minor changes I feel are needed, and then ship them your way. However, for chapters 9 and on, I will consider your wishes.

Don't think that means you still can't review, though! All I'm saying is that it would be awkward to go back through chapters and add characters/major dialogue, since that would create a ripple effect that would affect all my later chapters. ;) If you have any comments, I'd still very much like you to make them! Just because I can't make any MAJOR changes doesn't mean I can't make ANY changes. ;)

Happy reading!

Hey everyone! Thanks for visiting my page and (I hope) reading my story. As you can tell, my current passion is Tales of Symphonia, because it's simply one of the greatest games EVER. _ Plus, the Tales series has a lot of room for good storytelling, I find, so I thought I'd find a little niche of history to call my own. For those of you who are interested in the story, but want to know a little more than the short blurb allows for, I'll go into a bit more detail and give some background info. Be warned, however, that this may contain Tales of Symphonia spoilers for those who have not fully completed the game. If you're absolutely avid about not having the story spoiled for you, I suggest finishing ToS before reading ToH (and go do it anyway! It's a great game! Come on!)
Tales of Harmonia takes place 1,000 years after the finish of Tales of Symphonia, and therefore somewhere in the region of 3,000-4,000 years before the beginning of Tales of Phantasia. The Giant Tree of Mana, Yggdrasill, is now more or less fully grown as a result of the love and adoration given to it by the people of the joined world, Aselia. The world is filled with mana, but in order to prevent a travesty such as that which caused Mithos to split the worlds in the first place, the Church of Martel has placed strict sanctions on the use of magitechnology, so that only limited amounts are allowed for use, except by those shady organizations willing to work beneath the law. One of the tenets of the church, now an omnipotent and omnipresent organization within Aselia, is to limit the use of magitechnology in order to prevent another great war from depleting the world's mana supply.

All in all, life is good. Most people happily follow the teachings of Martel, and thanks to the (often totalitarian) rule of the Pope and the Papal Knights, the world is kept in a relative state of peace. True war has not been known for hundreds of years. The church keeps a strict and watchful eye on any who might rock the boat, and they are dealt with swiftly and harshly by the Council of Priests and the Papal Trinity.

Many find it strange, then, when a group of bandits known as the Hand of Beatrix begins to slowly gain power in the world. Every day, newspapers report that they have struck again, ravaging one village or burning a church here and there. Furthermore, their targets seem to be artifacts of religious significance -- and yet the church seems to do nothing. But why? In the sleepy little forest-village of Malachite, about a day's journey from the teeming metropolis of New Meltokio, the truth is about to unfold before the eyes of a boy who seems to know nothing of the truth, and yet who is more a part of it than anyone can say...

There you have it. Have I enticed you yet? I hope so. As you might guess, I tend to be the sort of person who gets one long-term idea into his head and then tends to stick with that... so, for that reason, don't expect to see an extensive list of authored stories on my page. ;) Rather, expect to see one story which, I hope, will take you deeper into the history of the Tales saga than you ever thought possible, and engulf you in the vivid world of Aselia and its lovable characters.
