Author has written 15 stories for A Goofy Movie, Kingdom Hearts, My Little Pony, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Hi! You probably don't know me, but I write. To share. Kalka, sixteen years old. I don't really have anything else to say about myself, but here goes. Now, I may not classify myself as an all-out author of expertise, however I try my best in writing out a story that will attempt to not only drag the reader inside, but also let the omniscient express what he feels over a difficult situation. Of course, it's not exactly easy. Before or after I begin an idea, I have a sickening low self-esteem thought that I will never become a good writer, and I don't intend to be an author as a job, to be honest. I write because I want to. If an idea pops in my head, hey! I open up Word and start jotting down words. This disables my enthusiasm a little and it's kind of difficult to find the best words for the conflict. My logic goes as this: Write, but try to be balanced. Don't lean in on the subject too much, that will make the reader lose interest. Don't rush, that's essential. If it's suspense, make the characters confused or something-- And... uh-oh. That's called a dead end. That happens sometimes when I develop an idea. There's always this part when you flip through ideas, but you just can't find a good deal of it! The backstory of "One Emerald Down" The term "One Emerald Down" refers to five emeralds taken instead of 6. This happens in the 1992 game for the Game Gear, Sonic 2. Not to be confused with Sonic 2 for the Sega Genesis, it's the first game in which Tails first appeared. A month later, Sonic 2 16-bit was released. Many people like to call it Sonic 2 8-bit, but I just say Sonic 2 for the Game Gear. The plot revolves around Sonic rescuing Tails after being kidnapped and held hostage by Robotnik, with our villain demanding Sonic to hand him the six chaos emeralds in order to free Tails. (Notice 'six' chaos emeralds. This was post Sonic 2 16-bit.) That wasn't all. There was a bad ending. If you didn't collect all six emeralds by the end of the game, you can't advance to the next zone and you're left with a cutscene of Sonic running alone while the credits roll as a happy chiptune plays. At the end of the credits, Sonic stops for a moment and looks up at the sky, showing a constellation displaying Tails as an image. At that moment, I was overwhelmed by a deep pit of sorrow. I couldn't help myself but tear up. While it sounds as melodramatic as it is, it sounds like SEGA literally implied Tails died in the latter case, (which obviously isn't possible, since he appeared in later games) but it was still a possibility SEGA threw in. Of course, it wasn't officially announced, but fans have speculated that theory. It had been a few years after I stopped writing. I had the condition known as Writer's block with the moral conscience that I will never make good stories, and I will end up just making it worse. Doesn't sound melodramatic enough? Haha. So that's why. It lingered in my chest so badly. I just had to let it out. There was little information written about the bad ending, so I decided to structure my own point, with ideas from the original. The story can be criticized with the fact that it was born off a simple or lucid idea, or it has little detail. In this story, I mostly focused more on suspense and a feeling where you've lost hope with everything and know that there's no turning back. A few days later, I came up with a prologue. Just a summary on what happened before these events, and a flashback (which includes Miles meeting Sonic) in West Side Island. I honestly took the canon summary and just converted it into my words. (80% of it, anyway.) I'm not that kind of guy to change canon plotpoints around and add my own ridiculous inputs (hypocrisy! lol!) when it comes to canon-wise. I'm not very good with originality. So it ended as the prologue being a summary, and two paragraphs of italic'd centered text being the last of the summary that I ultimately ripped. Wow, look at me. Giving no enthusiasm! Anyway, moving on... I originally ended it like that. A prologue and a chapter. In the end, throughout the course of the story it's implied (or foreshadowed, for lack of better words) that Miles dies, obviously.) That's when it hit me, however. I don't know why, but writing a story in depth, pouring what I feel about the situation into detail makes it transition to how I feel in the end. It didn't feel right. I started feeling extremely depressed when I made the ending so cold and senseless for an innocent little character. I initially intended to make the story to change the bad ending to something else. I disliked the fact about Sonic 2 Game Gear ending that abruptly, with no Tails in sight and ending up as stars in the skies. I wanted to make it look like a sign of hope that he will be saved, no matter what. So that's what I'm going to do. I updated the story to "In-Progress" to start work on a new chapter. It may take a while, as this weekend is about to be the first thing on my mind right now. School stuff is calling me. This biography is subject to be updated sooner or later. Stay tuned! |
