Author has written 4 stories for Final Fantasy VII, and Kingdom Hearts.

Ok, before I go off on a little rant here, I want you to check out http://www.fanfiction.net/u/231687/ . Read Peter's profile, seriously. The following rant is based entirely on that.

Where are the intelligent reviewers and writers? Time and time again I've gone looking for a nice fic to read, and what do I find? Hundreds of thousands of 300 word stories, with no real plot, and a lack of any soul to the writing at all. I'll admit, I'm an amateur in the writing world, but at least I TRY. I put my SOUL into my writing, and whether it sucks or not is irrelivant. Two nights ago I went looking for a nice Kingdom Hearts fanfic to read, and the newest stories were pretty much ALL the stories I spoke of above. There are some authors I know are good writers, but when I go looking for something new, I should be able to find something, right? Well, I did. Amongst all the crap, I found myself a nice Sephiroth based fic, which was really well written, very descriptive, and an amazing fic. I look foreward to when I find the time to read the chapters I've yet to.

But what bothers me most, is not even that I've gotten no reviews. I write to broadcast my ideas, to share with you people a part of my soul. I don't care if I get reviews or not (though I secretly desire them). But when I find quality writing, which has been overlooked purely because the word count is too large and people don't feel like reading, or because some fic about Sephiroth's brother caught more attention, that bothers me. before I read a fic, I actually tend to read over the reviews. I trust you people to be able to pick out the good from the bad. The stories from the soul, from the stories from the backside of a donkey. I'm disappointed. And maybe it's just me, but I'm honestly worried about the state of the fanfiction world.

I know I've sounded cruel, but people, please try a little. Writing shouldn't be treated like a little kids game, it should be shown the respect for the art it is. Please, reach into your souls and draw your ideas from there. Don't write for the sake of being able to say "I have writing on ff.net", write for the purpose of expressing your ideas, share your souls with us.

Here's hoping for a better future, as unlikely as it may be.
