![]() Author has written 3 stories for Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Criminal Minds. Hi everyone! I started writing my own fanfiction after a year of reading other people's stories. I may not be the best with grammar or spelling, but I try to get better. You all (readers and writers) keep me inspired to find my very own writing style and use my first foreign language - English - in a new and creative way. Thank you. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: I'm 24 years old (2010) aspiring writer and a student. I began to construct my own novel as a freshman in High School, but according to my mother I've always been coming up with stories as a child while playing. :D I'm interested in issues like globalization, pollution and climate change, human rights and the progress of society as a whole. I'm a typical young European, who feels strongly about protecting the world and the people living in it. Maybe these sentiments make me green and liberal, but sticking labels on people is a sure way to misjudge them, maybe even distance them. So, I would advise anyone to keep the use of labels to a minimum. We are so much more than the sum of our beliefs and our actions. LATEST FAVOURITE QUOTE: We frail humans are at one time capable of the greatest good and, at the same time, capable of the greatest evil. Change will only come about when each of us takes up the daily struggle ourselves to be more forgiving, compassionate, loving, and above all joyful in the knowledge that, by some miracle of grace, we can change as those around us can change too. - Mairead Maguire For all who wish to contact me or know more about my stories - click on my homepage link and you will see what I've written on WORDPRESS. I post reviews of books, movies, some things about my personal life, and what captures my attention. I've started out with a LiveJournal blog, but the site gave me a headache with their latest changes and the frustrating editing process. I love pictures in my posts, so I was not happy. Thus the move to WordPress. Feel free to friend me and leave a comment! I'll be very happy if you do :D Update 29.01.2011 I'll post notifications on the progress on my stories every week at least, write down plot bunnies and maybe even feel brave enough to post snippets of unused material. :D Alone in Anorien: Definitely expect ramblings and information from the LOTR fandom since I do research for each chapter of AinA. Once book characters appear, a note or two on them wil be added, where I've taken artistic license to change things and a timeline of Megan's movement. :D Any spoilers for future chapters will be noted and under cut, so no fear! Criminal Minds: I've decided I'll post condensed descriptions of the murders and all relevant information on them - almost like a case file, if you like. I hope that will make things clearer the further into the story we go. :D And add a touch of mystery too - I'll update them regularly. ALONE in ANORIEN: A story set in the LOTR fandom. This is one of my favourite creations, my pearl. It was the first story I've written that I honestly liked, so I posted it. The idea that sparked it came to me after I've read yet another MS story where the heroine acted like a spoiled brat with the mental capacity of a 12-year old. Not to mention that she possessed super-fighting skills that made even Aragorn and the elves look like amateurs (which is - let's face it - highly improbable). I wanted to give you a story where the heroine is flawed, possesses skills of someone who had sporadicaly hiked with family and friends, with honest reactions and fears. So, I started to research the Middle Ages, Middle Earth and its people, conflicts, geography... I researched Rangers, Gondorians and other people of Middle Earth we know little about. And thus the idea so many praise me for was born - I've finally given a place in the fandom to the mysterious Druedain. :D As I surfed for sites about survival, old remedies and common ailments of the periods before the discovery of antibiotics, war strategies and so on... I've also rekindled my interest in Native Peoples of the Americas. Since I value antropology and sociology, I incorporate my knowledge of it in my stories in an unobtrusive way. I never preach, let me assure you of that, but let my characters speak for themselves, act like we act in specific situations. If I have something to say, I always incorporate both sides of an argument and let my readers decide for themselves what they like or dislike. Megan does the same and I think we all value her because of this. So, you see - I've given my best to portray the fantastic situation of stumbling into Arda as realistically as possible. I'm glad to be able to say that my reviewers believe I've managed to do it. And here comes the point where I thank all of them for their time and patience, the friendly pointers on the mistakes I had made, comments on the passages that did not work since I was still new to writing in English, and all their encouraging words. THANK YOU, DEAR REVIEWERS! :D I LOVE YOUR SUPPORT! So, I feel I have almost reached the 100,000 words line and not yet come to the scene that sparked this long story. Oh, my! But the next chapter (16) should be the first one of many which had to wait to be placed inside the storyline. A note to my readers - I've done some editing on the first chapters (up to number 4), but nothing major has changed in their content. I hope the style and flow is better, with fewer mistakes and ambiguous sentences. Update: 19.01.2011 Since Alone in Anorien is a massive project, I hope you are understanding if updates are far apart - sometimes a chapter just won't get written the way I want it. But I can say one thing - we are finally at the point where inspiraton struck first. :D YAY! Took me long enough, didn't it? Update: 25.6.2012 I've rewritten several passages of my earliest chapters (up to chapter 7) and done some major work on my latest chapter, but RL has put me in a tight spot, so I was unable to work on the story. I will return this summer with new chapters. It is getting really annoying that I have ideas in my head but little time to write them down. Writing is a skill one must constantly work on, so I fear I've gotten a little rusty. Ouch. I hope to finish several chapters (each about 8,000 words or 13 pages long), so I will be able to bridge any writer's block or time shortages better in the future - this 2 year! hiatus is crazy. Update: 31.8.2014 I've rewritten parts of the first chapter, but it needs a little time to mature. I've also pushed forward with the new chapters, so I've not given up on the story yet. The MA course I'm enrolled in is killer on time, so I've had litttle time to write. I did start reading alot again and that really helped with my writer's block. :D A SLAVIC WITCH: A story set in the HP fandom. I'm afraid to say this fic will have to wait for heavy editing before I'll continue it. I've read through it during my writer's block on Alone in Anorien and I must say some passages had me beet red. God did I massacre some of the sentences and tenses! So, please bear with me. ANOTHER KIND of A FAN: A story set in the Criminal Minds fandom. I became a huge fan of the show and of Dr. Reid in particular last year (2010). I'm kind of late to hop on the bandawagon, but better late than never, eh? :D My heart was captured by Dr. Reid in one swoop, but other characters aren't any less interesting or important to me - the team has an amazing chemistry. Kudos to the actors for this excellent performance! But a girl has to have a favourite, doesn't she? :D Mine is the dashing young genius from Las Vegas. I hope my dabbling in the world of crime investigation will be interesting enough to garner some interest. To achieve just that I've set an unusual premise: the murderer was inspired by a lengthy fanfiction! I hope readers will enjoy this spin on fanfiction writing. :D I couldn't help myself though - I've inserted an original character or two in here as well. I know: I'm incorrigible. :D |
