It had been 482 days since Lydia had seen Stiles in person. 482 days she's spent going to sleep with tears in her eyes. 482 days of her wondering when she'd ever see him again, or if she'd ever see him again. 482 days she had felt torn in half. 482 days since Stiles enlisted in the military.

After looking at her for a moment, he went over and sat next to her. "You don't have to pretend with me, Lydia." And that was all it took. Suddenly her chest was tight, and it was hard to get a breath in from the lump in her throat as her vision went blurry from hot tears. She wasn't okay. She wasn't fine.

"It was my fault. God, Lydia, she's dead" – and Lydia so did not need that reminder – "and I killed her. Oh my god. I killed her." She doesn't even think twice before pulling over to the side of the road, breaking a bit too hard.
