Rachel Cavanaugh- Stuff about me: 35, single mom of a 12 year old. Born, raised, and live in Rochester, WA. I work at a preschool. I write into the wee hours of the night when I can't sleep because I ran out of things to read, and "Twilight" inspired me. That, or else I just got extremely bored. So far I am working on a story, I think I'll call it "Suibhne" for now, for lack of a better title. It's a vamp story that starts out in this ancient land of Suibhne, where a king and prince live in this castle, with the first of the humans of mankind. Part of the king's Guard revolt and try to take over the throne, but they are thwarted and exiled to the Badlands, a barren land outside the rich lands of Suibhne. The leader of the rebels, Lucius, plots to get even with g'Rian, the King, and Aigus, the Prince. He entices the first woman to drink from a forbidden fountain, who then entices her husband to drink. This sets in motion a deadly disease that is passed down from them to their children, down to their descendents for centuries, until we arrive in modern day times,location- United States. A disease is discovered that mainly strikes at-risk teens, those already involved in goth/vampire/occult activities, but quickly moves on to the rest of the population, following a series of freak storms and economy crash, etc. The disease creates in humans an insatiable thirst for blood. No one knows where this disease came from, or how to cure it. The medical population races to both control the spread of the disease, and find a cure. The only thing they have determined thus far is that it hides in the DNA of every living human, and that there is no known cure. The disease crosses all racial and cultural boundaries, and seems to be triggered by a series of endorphins created by acts that people perform. It imitates porphyria, or "vampire disease", creating patient psychosis and sensitivity to light. Crime and mayhem become widespread as this disease shows up in all walks of life. There are two underground groups functioning at this time in Oakville, Rochester, and Olympia. Mysteriously, Lucius pops up again, his base of operations is Oakville, in the woods. He is now high-tech and his reach stretches out as far as the government leaders throughout the world. He has been secretly kind of taking over for centuries, putting people into place that follow his lead. The other group is an underground group run by a man named Jack, that guards a Chalice, a mysterious cure for this disease for those who drink from it. They keep a low profile and rescue those stricken by this disease, one by one. Lucius seeks to find this Chalice and either destroy it, or drink from it himself, hoping to gain permanent immortality. While searching for the Chalice, Lucius uses his influence and the freak weather and government issues to put into place a series of heinous acts through Congress. He legalizes the seizing of unborn fetuses from pregnant mothers, in order to grow them to be "feeders" for those in the grips of the disease. He also legalizes the harvesting of blood from the sick, mentally ill, criminals in detention, and elderly. Influences, likes: "Twilight" series, and the movie... LOVE IT! The Bible. The "Left Behind" series and movies. Vamp movies, romance movies, conspiracy theories... you name it. I have read everything from cheesy dimestore romance novels (not so much anymore... you can only take so much mush... LOL) to Star Trek, Star Wars, and James Rollins books. I read it all, and I like it all. I really love reading all the different Fan-fics re: Twilight, it is so cool to see what everybody is thinking up! The author hopes that you will enjoy these writings and post constructive feedback. Happy reading! |
