They had taken her instead of his companion to torture her until the Doctor would save her and they could capture him too. How would the Doctor react learning what Clara did for him?

The Lodger AU. The Doctor is stranded on Earth in 2010 after being separated from Amy and Rory, who are trapped inside a TARDIS that cannot land due to a mysterious force located coming from the flat above Clara Oswald's. The Doctor moves into her spare room while he tries to sort everything out, but finds more of mystery in his new flatmate than the problem upstairs.

Fed up with the future her royal status holds for her, Princess Emma runs away and ends up in the port town of Tortuga. She grows up there, working as a barmaid with her friend Ruby, but a chance encounter with a charming pirate sets into motion events she never could've imagined and reminds her that she can't run from who she is forever.

When Clara is scouted for a chance to model, the Doctor encourages her to do it. But will his support go for any and all circumstances, or will he get flustered and walk away? Only things don't stay that way and the longer they're stuck down there, the more confusing he becomes. Just what is going on in his head?
