This story was based very loosely on the time around Jane's shooting of Timothy Carter. At the time I started writing it, I had no clue it would turn out to be a red herring but I still to this day think Carter would have made a worthy Red John. Even in prison Jane manages to charm a confession of her own out of Lisbon, with a slightly saucy outcome.

Teresa Lisbon is getting married. That alone should make it the happiest day of her life right? How can things run smoothly with Patrick Jane. This is a stand alone, but if enough people like it I may consider making it longer.

"It's nice to see you again," he finally says. She can't speak. Every detail is exactly as she remembers it, down to the wedding ring on his finger. He had to have planned it that way, she thinks, to make her feel like no time has passed. (AU after 6x01 in which Lisbon kills Red John and there are serious ramifications/alternate introduction to The Mentalist 2.0.)

(A tag to Black Helicopters (6x13) which then becomes an AU going through Violets (6x16) and a little beyond. Jane finally (sort of) does things right.)

A year after Red John's death, Lisbon runs into Jane unexpectedly. He intends on keeping a promise he made her before leaving, despite her protestations and the presence of Walter Mashburn in her life. It is an A.U., but not extreme. It will be very in canon.
