So I've been reading fanfiction for well over five years now, and have come across many stories and authors that I love. One of these days, I'll manage to write down of one of the ideas that have been bouncing around in my head for just as long.

The majority of what I read is slash, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate a well written traditional love story. One of my favorites is "Learning to Fly".

I am always willing to accept a good recommendation, and could potentially provide one to you.

I am also in the process of searching for a fic I read years ago and would like the opportunity to read again.

The only details I really remember are from the last two chapters of this story, which I guess means it was complete.

So Harry goes up against Voldemort, but instead of just straight killing him, he used a purification/cleansing spell on him because he's so saturated in evil that it'll just destroy him. Except that it doesn't. I remember that the chapter ends with the pile of clothes moving and Harry looking at it warily.

I want to say Fawkes was there with him, and maybe Hermione.

In the next chapter, Harry brings baby!Tom back to Hogwarts where Dumbledore insists on taking it and destroying the baby because he's the dark lord and super evil. But Harry responds with something along the lines of "He's the purest thing" and Dumbledore grudgingly allows Harry to take the baby and raise it as his own, giving Tom a second chance at life.

I'm almost positive that this story is Harry/Hermione.

In the epilogue, I think they make a point about telling Tom about his past life, and he's really sorry he tried to kill his dad. The story ends with Tom graduating from Hogwarts and hugging a younger sister with Harry and Dumbledore looking on. Harry says something like, "Aren't you glad you let me keep him?"

Any and all help finding this story is appreciated. I think the author might've taken it down, and if anyone has a copy, I would be eternally grateful.
